Anything pop up on the dash?
    Yes, that was my guess..

I didn't notice anything on the dash..... but wasn't really looking down at the time.

    Same.

Sometimes they come on even when there is no rain.

Check that the wipers are on the "INT" setting.

Yeah that happens to me as well but only when I channel my 10 years driving nothing but Toyotas.

The rain sensors only activate if you've set the right stalk to the "int" setting (one nudge upwards). You then should have some sort of dial that sets the sensitivity. In other words, read your manual again (Again right?)

The rain sensor was one of my biggest negatives and it turns out I was the problem....

Arteon auto-stop at lights almost NEVER activates. I've even tried driving with climate and radio off... still says power consumption high... took it to VW- they stated they replaced the battery as they said it wasn't holding a full charge. When I got the car home.. I checked under the bonnet (as car still not 'stopping' at the lights) and sure enough.. it's the original battery still (I marked it)- This is after the enthusiastic reassurances of the service tech that he'd changed it... grrrr- Don't like deception. So now I'm checking 'resting volts' on the battery to see what it shows on the multimeter... after 30min freeway/suburban road driving it is 'resting' at 12.2V... not even sure if this tells me anything.. anyone else had virtually non-functional stop-start?

The only issue I have with start/stop is that it had a habit of triggering when still rolling. I get why they do it but the car is pretty low to the ground and slowing down for speed humps triggers it sometimes.

Sometimes I feel like some of the tech is just bolted on and not configured for the height of the car. The "flagship" car that that borrows from every other make.

I noticed that this morning in start-stop traffic- still rolling, car turns off- I'll likely get over the novelty of start/stop but given my first battery was sick and I never had effective start-stopping function I'll leave it on for a bit and see if it makes any difference at all to economy... As a post-script to the local VW dealership trying to stooge me on the battery replacement, they managed to drag the old battery over the air filter box scratching it all the way along- after showing the service manager they replaced the airbox with a new unit but were utterly surly about it. Still love my arteon... but shopping for a new VW service centre in melbourne's east...
