S-Gearbox control unit DQ381 update Recall code: 34K1

Got the above recall notification when trying to book my MY18 Arteon for a service with VW.

Seems to affect DQ381 DSG built in '17/18.

Issue being an oil pump shaft within the 'start/stop' system that can break without warning and destroy the transmission.
    - The software update is to add diagnostic checks on the status of the pump and flag an issue before it causes anything terminal.

Just wondering if anyone has had this software update and more interested if anyone who has a DSG/TCU tune has got this done. I have a stage II TVS ECU/DSG tune and would like to know if the recall s/w update would affect the tune in anyway.

Thinking to revert back to stock, get the update and reapply the tune but would be nice to avoid the hassle.

Probably worth speaking to TVS first. Because if VW applies the recall it will almost certianly wipe your TVS tune. Then if you get the TVS tune re-applied after the recall you will almost certainly wipe the VW software fix - which will achieve nothing other than wasting your time.

So sounds like TVS will have to engineer the "fix" into their DSG software with an update.

If it was me id just disable the silly start/stop system and keep motoring with the TVS tune.

When did you get the TVS tune, they may have already had the new software version as part of their base tune, better to check with them. Their support via WhatsApp is good.

Keep in mind TVS change the SW version numbers to prevent SW updates at the dealer wiping out the tune, so this campaign might not even load correctly .
