    Golf GTI Infotainment Questions

Hi all, i've recently purchased a MY21 GTI with both option packs (Sound & Vision, Luxury).

Have been reading through the manual and have a few questions -

    1. Some features are missing and wondering whether a software upgrade is required to enable e.g. User Profiles and Speed Sign Recognition
    2. Does VW have an APP in Australia that allows remote connection to the vehicle? There is mention of We Connect but nothing on the Apple app store.

Infotainment has the current software versions -Hardware: H56
    • Software: 1788
    • Display unit/control panel hardware: H46
    • Display unit/control panel software: 2092
    • Navigation Database: 20.3

    Thanks!

I don't know about User Profiles, but I'm confident Speed Sign Recognition has not been reprogrammed to suit recognition of Australian signs. I don't worry about some things missing for the Australian market as I worked out we're paying substantially less than in Europe for our Golfs.
However, I found an option somewhere in the menus to turn on the speed limit in the Navigation (it's just the historic info stored in the particular revision of the maps, so won't be aware of recent changes o speed limits).

I also find out how to update the maps at this VW website:
    Volkswagen Map Updates
Our cars (Life, R-line, GTI) have Discover Pro, so select that option, and scroll down the bottom of the Download page and get "Download Manual (PDF)".
Golf VIII R-Line MY21.5 fully loaded – sunroof, sound & vision package (head-up display + Harman/Kardon stereo), Pomelo Yellow premium metallic (a.k.a. Lime Yellow in most markets) – ordered 18/3/21, delivered 17/8/21.
Previous VW group cars: Golf VII Comfortline DSG MY15.5 pacific blue; Golf IV Sport MY04 reflex silver with sunroof; Golf III CL bahama blue; Audi A4 MY95 tornado red; Porsche 928S3 MY85 guards red with sunroof.

Thanks! dissapointing re user profiles as would have been great to have a profile setup for myself and the wife so we dont need to adjust everything. Her bottom range X3 has that feature and it is 7 years old! Can't understand why it wouldnt be available in Australia cars !!

I’m pretty sure that things like user profiles (yes we used them on our Tiguans !!) have been pushed onto the app which of course the Southern Hemisphere don’t get …… don’t ask why even the dealers don’t know !! The speed sign one has been an issue for years and I know a 2017 Tig owner here managed to code it in so it DOES exist but VW deny it and of course from 2022 on you can’t code things yourself anymore !! Anyway we should all push VW to release the app for use in Ausi and NZ, can’t he that hard to set up !!!
