Mine also eventually went backwards. I assume it's because I'm in Sydney, and it doesn't have a time zone for us.
It "automatically" detects that we are in the Japan/Korea time zone.

Mine did the same,
just went to Japan time zone, and there is no way of changing it to Australia times zone that I can find.
Same issue here. If you have found a way to fix this, please share.![]()

Please phone VW if you have the problem. I've spoken to the dealer and VWA, and they both claim to have not had a report of it yet. I wonder if something else is set for the northern hemisphere that needs to be fixed. At one stage every day the car kept showing me a warning it had the headlights set for driving on the left (but I sorted that out by changing it manually).
As for the time, I had to take it off Automatic date/time set, and set it manually (which is obviously not what VW intended to have to happen, and we pay for, to have done all that programming to enable Automatic adjustments).
Golf VIII R-Line MY21.5 fully loaded – sunroof, sound & vision package (head-up display + Harman/Kardon stereo), Pomelo Yellow premium metallic (a.k.a. Lime Yellow in most markets) – ordered 18/3/21, delivered 17/8/21.
Previous VW group cars: Golf VII Comfortline DSG MY15.5 pacific blue; Golf IV Sport MY04 reflex silver with sunroof; Golf III CL bahama blue; Audi A4 MY95 tornado red; Porsche 928S3 MY85 guards red with sunroof.
Same issue here!
I brought my Mk8 Life into my local VW dealer; they confirmed they had not seen the issue before, and after a few trips back and forth for testing they were unable to resolve it (even with a factory reset). The issue has been escalated to VW Australia, who will apparently provide next steps.
From the looks of this thread, there may be software update coming our way…
I think we have to try different things. I went to try to change the Time Zone, but it was greyed out (despite Time & Date being changed from Auto to Manual. Next time I started the car the Time Zone was accessible, but it had defaulted to "-12hr International date line west". I changed that to my actual time zone, adjusted the clock. Next time I started the car it had reverted to the -12 hr time zone. Another time I turned on the car it had changed to "Auto" Time & Date!!!
I seem to be getting nowhere. I think VW needs to fix it. It's not a major thing, at all, but I didn't realise how often I look at the clock on my car. I keep thinking it's 1 or 2 hours earlier than it is.![]()
