Got the Mag today morning from a local fuel station, now interesting performance figures for us to discuss

    0 to 100 with 4.1 sec (launch RPM ?)
    1/4 mile with 12.4 sec

While 4.1 sec for 0 to 100 is quite impressive !, I expected better 1/4 mile time from ~600 hp super tiguan. However that track time is much better and prove super Tig has better handling and braking than most of other cars competed.

Dominator would be a better word than Franken-Mumster, but that's cool, we can live with either

I'm a little puzzled about the bang for buck calculations as I thought the Tig would have score a little higher. Nothing against the GM Motorsport Commodore as it's also a pretty good package for the $, however the Tig (F-mumster) is a second quicker to 100, 0.9sec quicker down the 1/4 mile and a full second on the track.... and not that much difference in price. On the bang calculations they only scored the Tig 10 points more but on the buck ranking they give the Commodore an extra 44 points

The only thing that let the Tig down was the dyno result. Any idea what happened here Guy? Heat soak or too sticky tyres???

Good question, my guess is Guy detuned the car little bit to make it more reliable for the testing and hotter climate . Just like VW does

Hmmmm having a look at last months results, the stage 3 HP Golf R ran 227kW and the stage 2 (manual) Romano Golf R from this month ran 188kW on the dyno.

So the stage 3 Tig with 206kW is almost exactly between the two. Given the higher driveline losses of the 7 speed DQ500 it actually looks about right (in relative terms).

Lap times of the 3 cars also correspond to the power 1:04.2 (Romano Golf R) vs. 1:03.4 (HP Tiguan) vs. 1:02.3 (HP Golf R) so this all lines up.

The thing you can't do (which Hot Tuner does) is do a direct comparison of the dyno figures for an AWD car compared to that of a 2WD. They probably ought to do some form of normalising of the results but I guess at least this way it gives the V8's something that they can win.

Yeah, I am also not very happy about that Lambo winning the competition. I would say there should be some index to measure the car's improvement relative to its base (stock) performance. That way we can clearly measure tuner contribution to improve the car performance and get rid of people bringing supercars to get a upper hand. For example that HP tiguan we say improved 150% from stock performance then that Lambo only improved may be by 10%. After all it is a competition to measure tuners involvement in improving the chosen car!
