After heaing this thing chirp fourth on the straight at Lakeside I couldn't stop grinning like an idiot.
Good to see we are getting some serious builds going on!

We have actually been toying with dropping this motor into a Tiguan with the AWD DQ500 transmission. It's heavy, but it would be an interesting conversion

I think as a platform for modding the Tigs potential hasn't really been fully explored. Given the stock hardware it does give scope for some significant gains before having to upgrade other components. Stage 3 Tig in Hot Tuner 2013???

Go APR!! Its really good to see a build thread for this as there's always something interesting going on with this GTI. Just out of curiosity Guy, when do you realistically think you'll be able to offer Stage 3+ solution for other GTI's commercially in Australia? Oh, and when are we going to see this car taken down to Willobank?

    Hey Alan,

I think we are close now to being able to offer it as a retail application - you have seen how much we have had to sort through over the past year!

Pistons & rods are now available & the low & high pressure fuel we run on our car is proven to be able to supply what is required.

Will have to work with Mark to come up with an engine rebuild labor & machining price to rebuild the engines.

The "track Pack" with the Accusump & catch can still needs some work if you wan't to go around big corners with sticky tyres. We are testing some different oil weights as we speak!

Had a bit of fun at the drag strip last night - found the limits of the driveshafts

Managed to drive it home again after a little bit of work!

Not quite sure what to do - I did a dozen runs with some axle tramp - no problem. I gave it to our engine builder Mark, and he had trouble launching the car & did this on his 4th attempt.

People have reported breaking manual transmission versions before & there are some aftermarket ones available. One of my friends in the US said to go to drag slicks and that helps prevent the axle tramp (which I think ultimately causes the failure).

Good thing I have some spares kicking around. Scirocco DSG ones are the same
