How does your "Tuner" test their products?

How does your Tuner test their products?

Here is another 4 day torture test. Our Golf R is a test mule for all the products we sell. VWR Brakes, Suspension, gearbox mounts & wheels. APR Turbo kit, Intercooler, RSC Exhaust, Fuel Pump, Carbonio Intake & RFD kit. Harding Performance Sway Bars, Control Arms, DSG Software & SSP DSG Clutch components. Genuine Haldex Controller.

Over 32 events, dozens & dozens of full throttle runs on the circuit in QLD heat, launch after launch - Needless to say - It dominates & topped a 25 strong driver & car field, including hot R35 Skylines, EVO IX & X's, Tarmac prepped STI's, M3's, R8's & a host of other contenders.

We test what we sell, we can stand behind the product because we KNOW it's the best and will handle the most demanding conditions.

With all those mods would you say the car still is nice to drive in traffic?

    Hey Ryan,

Engine power band & DSG is as driveable as stock - off boost its like a stage 1 / 2 car, which you can happily do at all legal road speeds in the country without it "kicking in". Get an opportunity to open it up & of course its a sub 3 second 0-100 car that runs 10 second 1/4 miles in street trim.

We just installed VWR's 3 way track dampers and have only started working out how to set them up - they are awesome. The car is sprung "firmly", but the damper control is awesome. Like most things in life - you get what you pay for.

With road tyres on it, it's no firmer than an E9X M3 in M Mode, so no compaints from "sports car" owners.

Regularly driven in traffic - it's fun to drop customers off in the city in it - turns some heads in Queen Street

    That's quick!

Is the DSG cooler recommended for most APR power upgrades or just Stage 4?

Depends on the DSG temperatures you are generating. It's pretty critical you know how it operates - we run two analogue thermal probes hooked to the AIM Datalogger you see in where the radio used to live. This give a large readout of the pickup & exits of the DSG oil pump and gives a nice big display to the driver.

The only time I switched on the cooler circuit over the 4 days was at QLD Raceway, which would have to be one of the hottest & hardest on gear in the country. It was 28C ambient, about 40C track temp, the the DSG temps varied between 93C & 135C, we have seen as high as 160C - but it all depends on how you are using the gearbox too. You can also cause damage by beating on the clutch packs when the box is cold - so have to be aware of that as well.

    Great video.
Ever thought of taking it out to Queensland Raceway for a Powercruise or Powerplay event? There arn't too many modern Euro cars usually, but would surprise a lot of people, especially if you are trapping at 125mph+
    If so, shotgun!

Shifting with the paddles, we have it (DSG) programmed for full manual mode. It's a nice feeling to never have to take your hands off the steering wheel! Sport is good on the up shift, but can be a little tougher to come down to the right gear for some corners. Also prevents a shift mid corner when you don't wan't one.

Fixxxer, we have been invited - not really our sort of event, but you never know any excuse to hit the track is a good one.

Isn't the best test on the individual car, customized to suit that vehicle ?

Sorry I don't understand? Are you implying that VW build every single car differently? -

I'm implying that the parts you buy off the shelf from us to use on your street car have been subjected to probably 100 times more stress on the track - they don't fail there, they won't on the street.

Repeated full throttle runs, repeated stops from 240kmph, sway bars & suspension components given high speed flogging over ripple strips, exhausts subject to constant 900C + temps without a rest, fuel pumps working at 7400rpm loads, rims subject to big G forces & impacts etc etc....

Sorry if I'm on the wrong track, but I don't understand your question.
