Nice gains right across the board there Guy. I assume that momentary dip at about 3,200-3,300rpm is when the supercharger switches off and the turbo continues into the upper revs? Good to see the real dyno sheet mimiking the digital dyno sheet used on the website too.

Out of curiosity, can i ask what kind of A/F ratios the APR tune targets for these 1.4L twincharge engines? My understanding is that these engines (specifically the MK6 118TSI) run very lean on the factory tune and that this is one of the reasons why there are certain "reliability" issues with alot of these engines - hence the multiple "software" updates issues by VW for these engines over the past few years. I can only assume your tune richens up the A/F ratio (especially up the top of the rev range) to help keep the engine cooler?

The Mk5 GT and current Polo GTI don't seem to have the same issues. One can only assume, seeing its the same engine, that the higher output tune on these cars is better for the engine.

Lucas, here is the wideband readings, these are really accurate and we have comparisons of our new tailpipe version compared to directly in the headers & they are near identical (so if they are freshly calibrated, a tailpipe sniffer will be very accurate) and then verified with ECU Explorer (in house APR tool we use).

You can see what we (APR) have done with the supercharger switch over point and the linear line of power & torque.

A few points richer than stock, that's for sure - this particular vehicle is the later VW hardware revision with the bigger fuel pump as well.

There is a video here of ECU explorer in action: APR ECU Explorer and ECU Composer - YouTube

^ interesting - thanks for posting that info.

I had forgotten that there was also a fuel pump upgrade done on these engines. This one in particular looks like its running pretty sweet now.

    Nice results!

A bit OT but I would be interested to know how the 7spd dry clutch DSG goes with the extra torque of a tune.

This car has our DSG software which also aids in the clamping of the clutch - mind you, there are not many that have actually worn out clutches (shuddering is a different issue)

I can vouch for this... Huge difference with the DSG software, and i'm running m u c h more power through it against the 118TSI Stage 1... couldn't recommend it enough

Are there stronger engine mounts out there for the 118 Golf? I'm thinking mine can't handle the extra power/torque. I've already replaced one ruined mount on the passenger side, and just today heard the tiniest or creaks as I gently added acceleration out of a corner today, indicating it might be getting worse again.

    Hi Ryan,

I'll try to check for you - that mount is different to the GTI as far as I know with the different trans.
