APR MK7 Golf R Software released!

    Release details are up.

Numbers verified in Australia on multiple cars by APR (including S3's), In the US & In Germany on a MAHA dyno. Believe the numbers

Please note that all the figures show as claimed by VW, then as measured by APR - both are documented in the data fields.

This is a huge release for us, nearly a year in the making, and importantly for the Australian sign-off, APR sent an large engineering team hear to finish it off (5 engineers over 3 weeks) in October.

    Anyway,

APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW and Porsche Vehicles.

    Impressive figures Guy.

Can I ask one question. What's different about the stock Golf R engine compared to the GTI? I thought they were the same engine and yet the figures APR are getting out of the R are different to the GTI.

    Hi Donweather,

Not sure about the bottom end, but certainly on the top end, the R has a bigger turbocharger, and a different cylinder head with bigger ports. The exhaust manifold is inside the cylinder head now (so no old 4 into 1 looking manifold), I am unsure if there are different valves or bigger injectors.

Big difference is where peak torque is produced (and for how long), the dual valve lift and port + direct injection has really changed the game over the old engine.

    WoW.
Holding out on us Guy? Stage 2?
Will Stage 1 + intake crack the 300kw barrier? What about Stage 2 (Downpipe)?

Pretty confident it will go close.

The new engine is so efficient that hardware is not seeing as large gains as the previous platform, Intake & exhaust do, and race gas as well (399 hp on race gas). An intercooler will help things also as it does heat soak pretty quickly.

So building an R400 is not so hard!

    Awesome work as always, Guy

    Done any manual Rs yet?

And what clutch options will be on offer? Reading the text it looks like the clutches (both DSG and manual) will need work to keep up!

All good Sharkie, we have done the manuals in the S3 calibration & they are fine.

We have a lower output file for those who are concerned about drive train, (less 18kw & 27nm). I think the clutches may be the same as MK6 R.
