That is mirroring from the andriod phone. Maybe audiosources should call them for help. Ha ha
Miracast transfers the screen via Wi-Fi direct, but you still can't control the phone with the receiving device as far as I am aware. It's just the video and audio. This can be done via MHL, and in a car the advantage of wireless screen transfer is more or less lost. You'd still have to dock the phone somewhere to control it, and if you didn't plug it in to charge it would die pretty quickly.

Ten years on and they're still rubbish.

There's a reason why Apple came to dominate media players despite its lacklustre feature set. Even Microsoft with all its software experience and resources can't get a decent media player out the door.
It's nothing that dramatic - the old ANS series has already been out for over a year and you can see demo videos of it in my ANS thread or many other videos on YouTube. For the DNS it seems they got a bit ahead of themselves in planning features and didn't test for bugs thoroughly enough.

I have been told all the bugs I showed them should be able to be fixed by Saturday. It's not so much fixing bugs that is time consuming, it's finding them and then putting resources behind them that takes time. Since Audiosources realises that they need to fix these problems BEFORE releasing the product, it's not an issue throwing resources behind them. They're here to surpass the ANS series, not to take backward steps.

Hey Sandy, sent you a PM just making sure you got it. Was wondering from others, the ANS 8", if similar to the new DNS, the SD cards for both GPS and music are put in behind a "button", correct? The Replica 6.5" is put in under the screen like OEM and will need an SD card in all the time for Maps, correct? Doesn't this look a little "unfinished"? It's the same with the OEM one, I know, but don't need SD card in "sticking" out as maps are on the Hard Drive. Just wondering what everyone thinks.

It uses Miracast, which uses Wi-Fi direct, something similar to Bluetooth (not the normal Internet Wi-Fi), to send video and audio wirelessly. Audiosources will use MHL, which is much more widespread and stable. As I said, I don't see the point of wireless in this situation when your phone will probably lose half its battery in under an hour unless you plug it in (constant Wi-Fi direct similar to tethering, CPU + GPU processing for the screen, GPS + internet if you're on Google Maps, etc). Plus you still need to use the phone for controls so it needs to be docked anyway, not just in your pocket. And if you dock and plug the phone in, then why bother with wireless at all when wired would be more reliable?

"Bugs should/might/maybe fixed on Saturday" is an interesting statement but it's full of wriggle room

You haven't specified that immediately upon the bug fixes being resolved the unit will ship to Australia X days later or any trigger events or milestones

I know Chinese replica manufacturers don't understand task orientation or the project management triangle but I really need to get some dates set to milestones

I'm looking at buying another make of car shortly and unless I have some dates to work to I will probably have a new primary car by the time the DNS ships

For anyone that manages people for a job, the statements about DNS timing now appear like responses from a Gen Y employee

"Yeah I'm working on that, I will let you know when I'm finished, not sure when that will be, but it will be as fast as possible"
As soon as the bugs are fixed the units will roll out. Everything else is ready and a small initial batch of units have even already been made. If I insist, I could order the units right now, but I prefer to wait until the units are stable.

Once the software is ready I will make that video, give people 2-3 days to view it and decide, then finalise the order. Once the order is placed it takes about 3 business days to be ready, another 3-5 days to ship to me, 1-2 days for me to process them from my location and 1-5 business days to reach you depending on where you are (approximately 1-2 for QLD / NSW, 2-3 for VIC, 3-4 for SA, 4-5 for WA).

I will send you an invoice later today. The SD cards do not stick out, they are inserted into the slot and sit more or less flush with the faceplate of the unit.

Once again, thanks Sandy for being so open and transparent about the whole process

Based on above information, my rough estimate of time:

Software finished over the weekend, video published, final orders taken and sent to Audiosources on ~Wednesday, manufacturing finished on ~Monday, sent to Sandy, arriving ~Friday, sent out to customers, so we're looking at at the week of the 30th of September for delivery. Best case scenario.

    Conservative estimate: +1.5 weeks.

Maybe my workplace is an exception, but the opposite rings true. The Gen Y employees that we have are by far the most conscientious, efficient and dedicated employees we have. They're the first to arrive in the morning and the last to leave in the evening, and use technology to increase their productivity. Most of them even take work home on weekends and respond to emails etc.

The gender stereotype is a load of garbage.

Being Gen Y myself, I really despise statements like this.

Thanks Sandy. I didn't mean they stick out a lot just that they are visible compared to the 8". Seeing that the gps maps need this there will always be an sd card in that slot and you can see it. Kind of takes away from the OEM look in my opinion (I don't use sd card for music)

None of these mirroring interface technologies support touch control through the unit? I see what you mean about plug versus non-plug but I also don't really see the point of having your 5-inch phone docked right next to your 6, 7 or 8 inch unit displaying the same picture. Ideally I'd have my phone plugged in and out of site and using the unit to directly control the phone image and remove the clutter of a dock/mount. Guess that's not viable yet though.
