My BT sounds fine if I keep the volume ~33 or below, which I would say is about 17 on SD, so about half. At this volume I can play rock / metal without it sounding tinny, quality is not great but fair, plenty of bass. My unit's equaliser settings are bass 4, sub 3, mid 1, treble -2.

Regarding iPhone mirroring, iPhone 4 and above and iPads are supported as long as iOS is version 5.1.1 or above. See the connection below:

So yes you do need the Digital AV cable. There's no requirement to use the genuine Apple unless you own an iPhone 5 (in which case you need the Lightning Digital AV). Supposedly non-genuine Lightning Digital AV may damage your phone.

The HDMI end you see above will connect to the mirroring adapter box, which in turn connects to the back of the DNS.

I still need to confirm if the HDMI cable is included - the USB one for Android devices is.

By the way, if you are running Android do check that your phone is MHL compatible:

Your unit sounds quite faulty beyond the white screen issue others are having. If this ever happens again you can disconnect the radio by pulling the fuse, this will reset settings too.

The final production unit is available now for replacement for those with faulty units - however as I said I've not had hands on experience with it yet though these issues should be fixed. If any of you don't want to wait just message me and I can organise the replacement.
My unit has otherwise been good but I had this issue with the unit not turning off a few days ago, to make it worse there is a real possibility that the unit turned itself on before the failure ( the person I was with is certain the radio was off when we left the car and the keys were in my pocket) I found the fuse and the unit came back good as gold. What should I do Sandy? Is this likely to be a warranty issue?

    Sandy,

When will the mirror link module be finalized and available for us to buy? I am debating on what the future is for my DNS unit, and would like to see a functioning mirror link module soon. Fingers crossed! Also, I will be adding the extended warranty when this transaction is processed.

I am interested in the mirroring module function for iPhone, but am not really sure of the benefit having this function. Assuming that the iPhone display is duplicated on the DNS screen, can the iPhone (4S with latest ios) actually be controlled by touching the icons on the DNS screen, or can I only control the iPhone by pressing the iPhone screen.

Mirroring module is display only for the time being.

Having said that, looking at the way it's connected (apple av adapter -> hdmi -> mirroring module -> DNS), I'm not sure that it will be able to use the dns touch screen, unless they plan to use USB input at some point? Otherwise I feel like you could achieve the same thing by using a dock -> composite out connector into the auxin on the unit? It wouldn't be digital though.

Yeah my understanding is that the full control takes a video out from the iPhone and then uses the USB for the return control signals. If the USB is not involved, it'll be mirroring only.

On my Pioneer App radio, you connect the USB to a USB port and the HDMI directly to the HDMI in on the Head Unit. You then use a set of custom Apps specifically written to run using the App radio as the touch interface but with the heavy lifting done by the iPhone.

AFAIK the unit is not able to turn itself on after the keys are pulled, it's only possible for it to freeze and not execute the shutdown command when the keys are pulled. I've had the not shutting down problem once a long time ago, but that was back when the unit had CAN-Bus issues. Have you upgraded to the latest firmware? It should just be a software issue.

This module is available now. However as I said it is one-way communication i.e. display only. Audiosources is a little vague on development of the two-way module and I need to confirm if they are still going ahead with it. This current module does only what it is designed to do, you can't get a software upgrade later to make it two-way, i.e. if a two-way module comes later down the track it will be a new, separate module.

Looks like my unit doesn't like the latest firmware update.
Monsun.exe errors when listening to mp3s on sd, preset station text garbled and it just seems worse then before.
There are plenty of other things that it doesn't do that it use to.
About the only good thing I have noticed is when you use the mute button on the steering wheel it actually pauses
the song when playing from SD instead of just muting it.

Since the last update I get white screen on start up. So I decided to go back to the last firmware. Funny thing is, I turned on the head unit prior to backdating and get the whitescreen. I turned off the unit, inserted firmware update in GPS slot and turn on head unit.
The update installed fine and no white screen on start up.

So I wonder - is white screen a hardware or a firmware thing.. or a bit of both?
