And that is my point, say BT can only get to max of 50db, and radio can do 100db. If you adjust the relative volumes to roughly equal and adjust the master past 50db the BT will max out and may get damaged. Or if you cap BT at 50db you will be wondering why from about halfway up the master volume BT won't go any louder. Then when you decide to switch back to radio after adjusting the master volume to max to see if something's wrong with BT, you get hit with the sudden louder volume. IMO it makes more sense to keep individual volumes.

The relative volume setting probably makes more sense when difference in volume between modules are minor. With the DNS the max BT volume is a fair bit quieter than SD / radio etc.

Yes this new MPU fixes the rear speaker issue, as moda has confirmed too.

By the way, no response on iPhone mirroring yet today from Audiosources, I'm still chasing it up.

All, just an interesting update on those with the frozen white screen of death!! I know Sandy mentioned Audiosources found the issue with a resistor but for those that have not returned their unit yet, here's a quick work around. I found this by accident but it worked everytime I had the white sreen in the morning due to cold weather. Start your car and when you see the white screen turn he DNS off (hold the power button down for a few secs). Put your car in reverse and wait a couple of seconds...at that point I hear a "click" and then the rear camera image shows up on the screen. Yes, it shows up even with the DNS off. Now put back in gear and then turn on the DNS (hold power for a few). The unit boots up normally.

This is probably a mute point now but interesting that this works. However, I did notice then when we all got the white screen and then it fixed itself after 10, 20 minutes or so, the reverse camera would have funky color lines. I knew they had to be linked somehow.

Anyway, just some advise for those waiting to exchange their unit!!!

Also, I loaded the newest firmware (prior to rear speaker fix) and volume now shows up when in GPS mode!!!! AWESOME! It's a small screen in the middle that displays "Media Volume:". Good job AS for listening to some of the feedback.

Can anyone who has updated with the most recent version with rear speakers working confirm the sound quality on Radio/CD is better in terms of excessive bass? I noticed there was an improvement where I could turn the bass to +1 with music cranked and bass levels were ok....prior to this update I would have blown my speakers!!!!!!

If AS now decide that it can do iPhone mirroring, that'll be quite annoying (for me) as the originally quoted lack of iPhone support is one of the reasons I walked away from the GB.

It appears to be the case, though atm it looks like you will need the Apple AV cable for this. In any case it's not too late to rejoin the group buy

The firmware fixed my speaker issue as well.

So the Bluetooth audio, reading the gain posting, does this mean that the bt audio playback will always be half as loud as any other input? Also will the quality be improved or is that a limitation with the hardware? As mine is still pretty staticy/crackle and slightly distorted with that crackle

Yeah the quality of the BT playback is terrible on mine too which is a shame cause I use it a fair bit. Hopefully they can sort it out...

What volume do you have it on? Do you get static and other noises?

My BT sounds fine if I keep the volume ~33 or below, which I would say is about 17 on SD, so about half. At this volume I can play rock / metal without it sounding tinny, quality is not great but fair, plenty of bass. My unit's equaliser settings are bass 4, sub 3, mid 1, treble -2.

Regarding iPhone mirroring, iPhone 4 and above and iPads are supported as long as iOS is version 5.1.1 or above. See the connection below:

So yes you do need the Digital AV cable. There's no requirement to use the genuine Apple unless you own an iPhone 5 (in which case you need the Lightning Digital AV). Supposedly non-genuine Lightning Digital AV may damage your phone.

The HDMI end you see above will connect to the mirroring adapter box, which in turn connects to the back of the DNS.

I still need to confirm if the HDMI cable is included - the USB one for Android devices is.

By the way, if you are running Android do check that your phone is MHL compatible:

Your unit sounds quite faulty beyond the white screen issue others are having. If this ever happens again you can disconnect the radio by pulling the fuse, this will reset settings too.

The final production unit is available now for replacement for those with faulty units - however as I said I've not had hands on experience with it yet though these issues should be fixed. If any of you don't want to wait just message me and I can organise the replacement.

Ill wait till mid January to setup my return, as I likely wont have time between now and then to have it removed. Will PM when I'm almost ready for it. I did pull the radio fuse and all is back to normal.

Maybe by then more improvements will be made to the mirroring add-on, crossing fingers for fill android control, without any hardware upgrades needed past the module. I'm definitely interested and perhaps will have that added to the box when the replacement unit is sent out.
