I've been following this thread closely. I'm very keen on a DNS coz I want something as close to OEM as possible but obviously not with the price tag.
I've been looking at units with MirrorLink and the developers over at xda have managed to get full phone functionality with a modified apk. Starting to lean towards that!
Plus then I'll have access to either Google Navigation or Navigon through my headunit. And pretty much any other app on my Galaxy S3.
I'll still be following this thread for a month or two though as I have little to no money at the moment haha.

Having looked at an Eonon in a friend's Mazda 3 and various UK threads on other alternatives, I'd say that for that there's nothing else that can compete. Some companies have closed down, and a German option looks like a re-wrapped ANS-810. Even the Zenec has it's issues as reported in the electronics thread.
Yes, I probably went in too early and my birthday present to myself will become a belated Christmas present to myself but I cannot find any reason to pull out, so I'll keep being patient and wait.

Haven't really played with the unit since updating the firmware when Sandy got back.
Just had a play with the GPS settings and was flicking through map colours and this error popped up.
It happens every time you get to that selection and locks it up.
Anyone else come across this??

Yeah I forgot about that. Its at a particular theme right? I got the same thing. I think that might be something iGo related rather than DNS though. I get the impression the theme file is missing. Not sure why the unit locks up though. I could only get out of it with a reboot.

That's not a DNS fault, that's an iGo fault. Looks like you either need to change your theme, or find a (more stable) version of iGo Primo. It shouldn't be loading a 480x272 res skin anyways, the screen is 800x480...
Yea, again, it needs time.
Eonon is fine for the money, you just have to know you're getting a cheap chinese unit. Their base hardware is the same, slightly better OS, but a lot of the platform specific stuff to the DNS they'll never have (like the OEM connectors, MFD/CANBUS interface stuff). They're very cheap, so you have to know what you're getting.

I know, but that's not my point. My point is that, like it or not, product development (hardware and software) takes time, even for companies that have massive labour and monetary resources.
Most consumer electronics are on a 12 month cycle, and AS is a very small company with limited resources.
I'm not saying it's an excuse, I'm just saying that we should understand why it seems to be taking the time that it is taking.
And even when apple release new iOS software, they have bugs and floors in it which have to be fixed with new updates.
