Honestly mate, play the waiting game. If you don't want to play the waiting game, just get the RNS, pay the money and be done with it.

I'm willing to take the gamble on the DNS because, why not, and because i'm a techie, early adopter and yea. Personally, I don't think the DNS will be prime time ready for at least a few more months. I wouldn't bother with the ANS at this point either.

It's up to you what you want to do. If you just want something right now that just works, pony up and get the RNS and know that it will work flawlessly.

Having BT in the car already helps. The ANS/DNS won't use it but that's not really a decision point.

For me, I decided that almost every alternative was better value than the RNS. I read a number of average reports about its performance and I wasn't keen on being tied to a manufacturer for map updates (like I am with my other car at $200 a pop). I would also have had to buy BT which made it a slam dunk against it.

I was in the DNS group buy until about 3 weeks ago and I got out. At the time, the DNS had too many questions over it so I bought a Pioneer AppRadio. This gave me almost everything I wanted (no MFD integration) in a package that gave me excellent integration with my iPhone.

If you go with something other than the 3 you mentioned you will have more stuffing around with adaptor harnesses to get them to work (Connects2 make these bit it's an extra cost).

If you're not in a hurry, the DNS is looking better again. If you are in a hurry and don't want SatNav then all of the major manufacturers have a double DIN unit that will be excellent.

At the moment only an RNS will give you full MFD integration.

Well I guess I am not as crazy as I thought!! I too could not get the firmware to update using Sandy's method so follow what I said in my post....just copy over the firmware file (AS_something). Turn your DNS on and then insert the card. It should immediately have a prompt to update firmware. You may have to turn on and off the DNS for the prompt to come up if it doesn't come up automatically when you insert the SD card. Remember, just copy the firmware file onto a blank SD card this time...not the BSP or MPU.

Edit: the above should only be done once the BSP (color text screen) and MPU (white screen with success). For some reason the MCU file was deleted from the SD card during the BSP and MPU update process. So instead of doing it all over again, you can just update the firmware by itself as per above.

Hey Sandy...any updated firmware? Also, seeing that tomorrow is the 12th, any word if AS is going ahead with full automated production on the DNS?

I had a small odd issue today. Was using the Bluetooth for a call. Then 1 min before I got to my destination the steering wheel controls to volume stopped working. Once I got to my destination. A key pull solved the issue. I'll add it to the Google doc in the morning. Is this what everyone meant when they refer to the canbus/steering wheels button issue?

I figured I'll post some pictures of the errors that I am getting. Been using the unit for about two weeks so have gotten pretty familiar with its quirks and bugs.

While playing music form the SD and using GPS navigation I inevitably get lock ups with one of the following errors:

Also, today it was 31F outside and I received the infamous white screen of death (for the third or fourth time now):

Warming the car up a bit and a key pull seemed to have fixed the issue for the rest of the ride.

Ill add to the photo case, just sent this one to Sandy for recording.... I love the discolored appearance the screen has, no that's not my camera, that's actually what the screen looks like with all the light and dark marks.

Good to see im not the only one having memory issues with SD playback. I had the monsun.exe error yesterday again too.

It never really occurred to me until seeing those pics but during the update process I had that white screen issue a couple of times. I had to reboot the unit several times to get around it. It also happened once when I had that memory leak msg. I have always been able to get around it with a reboot or 10 though and I haven't seen it since getting the new firmware up successfully.
