Sandy, I know you are probably busy as heck but I think AS owes you (and us) an updated feature set on the DNS. There have been features communicated, then changed (capacitive vs resistive, full android mirroring with touch control to maybe just mirroring for iphone and android with no touch control), features that are added (we think) like internet capability (with the browser and Net Work settings in the newest firmware). There was the promise of full ODBII support, full MFD (more than 1 line) support including navigation, etc. Full production units are to be released on Dec 12th (I think) so at this point, AS should have a concrete idea of the hardware capabilities they are building which can support what software features (ie Canbus/MFD, internet, etc) are included. This includes any add on modules that have to interface with the hardware somehow. I think it's time that people know what to expect for a $700 unit.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I like the DNS and what is has to offer, just need to understand the expected features that I bought this unit based on before it's too late to turn back. Eg, 3 months down the road, AS decides that the mirroring is not something they can do/want to do...then what? Would you honour a full return?

Definitely a question that must be answered for both prospective buyers & existing buyers in the group buy.

After all the countless threads and the if's/but's/maybe's, Sandy can you please spell out exactly what the specs are and what is or isn't included in this DNS unit.

So is anything being done for the people that didn't get a unit with the wrong spec screen?

so asides from taking a little while to turn on. not being the best to read in sunlight. sometimes freezing on some mps on the USB stick. digital tv taking a little while to work. and the map software being a bit laggy........the ANS710 in my vw touareg is not bad.
so whats major different with these new units? it seems like the big ticket items that made them so great.....arnt really included anymore

Has anyone tried the aux in using the OEM 3.5mm jack in the console (just above the handbrake in my car). It doesn't work for me.

    Installed mine today.

Tried aux and mine doesn't work too.

Does this unit drain a lot of power? Only reason I ask is because I got a flat after playing with it for 10 mins with the car off. Had to jump start my car...

IDk about the aux, still waiting on cables.

Battery drain seems odd, I played with mine for a good 30 mins last week, without starting the car, started the next morning no issues.
    Mine: -MK5 Golf 2.0TDI[Deiselgeek sigma 6 shifter + H&R 50mm lowering springs + GTI Tartan interior + Audi 18x8 A6 wheels(Dark Steel)]
    -MK1 Golf The re-spray/re-build
In the family: -MK5 Jetta 2.0TDI, -9N3 Polo TDI, -6R Polo TDI, -Mitsubishi S^$&box van
A pattern seems to be forming...

If you're having issues with the aux-in jack please let me know what car model and what year.

I have played with my unit for 30 minutes without a flat battery as well. What exactly were you doing, and did you have the volume on loud?

As for the features, they are pretty much as stated in the first post. A quick summary of the advantages the DNS system has over ANS are below:

1.2Ghz Cortex-A9 CPU, 512MB RAM (as opposed to 700Mhz CPU and 128MB RAM)
full 1080p support (ANS series may not load files with resolution much higher than 800x480)
mp4, mkv etc newer codec support
    lossless audio codec support
    OEM connections at the back
    support for OEM aux-in
OEM Philips radio module for improved radio reception
shuffle across folders on SD / USB
music and video interface - touch progress bar anywhere to skip
    anti-reflective screen
memory (quick dial) in Bluetooth interface like the RNS-510
    BT phonebook search function
mirror link (requires module - in its current form, iPhone + Android compatible but without on-screen control on the unit)

    Planned features:
    MFD phonebook
    MFD navigation directions
    MFD three-line display
    trip recorder (module)
    OBD2 (module)
full music library with ID3 tag-based browsing (incorporating iPod as well)

That's all I can think of for now, I usually forget to mention a couple of things with feature lists.

Regarding those who have received the unit with resistive screens, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to go about the issue since I have had some people say to me that it doesn't bother them at all while others say it's almost a deal breaker. Personally I haven't found it to be a real issue, especially since the RNS-510 is also resistive. That said, the point is that the unit was supposed to be capacitive. I think it is best for those who feel like this is an issue to message me. I can't do much better than $20 off per person if I'm to give a universal discount since Audiosources is not supporting me on this, but if those who don't mind are kind enough to not seek compensation I can give the others a bit more. Of course if you don't mind but feel like you are entitled then you are still free to message me.

By the way if anyone is having issues with the resistive screens to the point that the unit is selecting a different part of the screen, this is NOT normal - I've come across this in the ANS series before and it usually is because something is a little too tight in the faceplate assembly and putting pressure on the screen. Let me know if you are experiencing this but from memory I think I only saw one mention some time ago.
