Sidenote, I'm going to drive around with max heat on in my car over the next few days get things good n toasty and see how this thing does with a good climate change. Heat it up, then let it cool down over night and see what a morning brings

Nope its not just you, we all do listen to different music, and some music delivers more base than others, I have a narrow listening base however even with the little difference in music taste I have I notice it, rock it's okay, pop music or similar its really hard on the speakers.
I may even need to adjust my amp running my sub, as even that's a little poundy for my liking and likely its liking too haha

I understand, I just meant with the past they (Sandy / AS) said that firmware upgrades to the canbus has bricked devices, kinda raises some flags again.
Any idea as to what's causing the freezing? I haven't played with that hidden menu, yet. Could that be causing the issue?

No idea. I had gone into the secret menu, which is not so secret by the way (LOL) and changed the settings that should be available in the regular menu (OPS, ensure CanBus is set to "v", car type is VW, current volume for reversing, etc). I just think, like any phone or computer, it got "crossed" up and needs a reboot. A soft restart doesn't fix it which includes pushing power for a few seconds or even shutting your car off for less than 30 minutes, etc. Will see after work.
The unit starts off really well with all things working snappy. The GPS for me works - but satallite pick up can be a bit slow.
I too had the complete freeze today (I was playing with everything), it seems to get sluggish then non responsive, then freeze.
Since I had closed up the dash, the only way to power it off was to disconnect the battery
I'll add my issues to the google doc list soon.
Until Im the next firmware patch, I've got spanner in the back in case I need to pull the battery again.
