installed today, its nice and notchy, like the s2000 that i had before, not quite as good, but better than what the gti was before.
ill wear it in and report back in a week, so far so good
Did 100km or so yesterday with the new short shifter installed. The throw (left/right and front/back) is definetly less now and when you engage a gear it feels much more precise. Gone is the rubbery feel of the stock shifter. My brother also commented on how "un-sporty and rubbery" the stock gear shift felt.
Gears were a bit notchy for the first say 80-100 gear changes, but towards the end of the drive it was getting smoother. Will give it another month or so of driving to "wear in" as per the Dieselgeek instructions.

Just DIY it - where abouts you at in sydney? If you want I can help install it for you?
Finally installed mine, I'm so happy with it. Very notchy, and I absolutely love it that way. I only hope it doesn't smooth out much, love the way it clicks in. DIY was fairly easy, did it with some mates who played the youtube DIY video on his phone, no dramas. Alignment was easy as well - didn't realise there was a locking mechanism for the shifter shaft and on the gearbox itself, definitely a whole lot easier than on a Mk3. That said though, the throw towards the right of my shifter (towards 5th gear) is noticeably shorter compared to the throw towards the left (towards 1st and 2nd). Tried adjusting the cable forward and backward but it didn't help all that much, especially when the shaft and gearbox was locked in. That said, it's easy to get into all gears, so I've just left it at that for the moment.
Thanks to Greg again for his amazing customer service and making the group buy such an easy transaction.
Hey Ray
I've had mine for about 3 years now and after an adjustment a few months after it going it it's been rock solid.
FWIW my throw to 5th is shorter than 1st and 2nd but I've never had an issue.
Sounds good, cheers Ben

Finished the install a couple of hours ago.
The hardest part of the install was figuring out the instructions on the dieselgeek website. Bloody nightmare. Having said that... Once you decode the sentences its fairly easy to install.
I've only driven it for around an hour but changing gears is vastly shorter and more precise. The components appear to be made far more sturdy then the standard parts that ship from the factory too!
Thanks Greg!
Will have to do an install video, thing is YOU bought "my" set getjet : )
Will get more in, just been uber busy with Viezu....
Glad we could finally get you sorted mate!
