    Golf Detroit 18 inch Rim

    Hi Everyone
I have a single Golf Detroit 18" rim for sale. What happened is that it had a gutter scrape and I had it repaired at a cost of $180. The repair was good but did not restore the wheel to its original condition, the scraped section being machine finished. Unfortunately I can’t seem to add the picture to this post. [Pic since added]. It's common knowledge that the new price of these rims is over $850. I would be happy to accept the best offer above $350. [Price now amended to $250 following helpful feedback]. Excellent replacement for an unsightly or damaged rim or simply as an emergency backup.
    Cheers

don't mean to burst your bubble but i don't think your asking price is at all reasonable for a damaged/repaired rim

Thanks for your opinion. However, the rim WAS damaged and subsequently repaired at a cost of $180. Let's say I'll accept any reasonable offer, taking into account the replacement value and the cost of repair. Happy to send a pic to anyone who would like one. Could someone confirm why I can't post pics at this time?

If the repair returned the rim to its original condition, then I think a price around $250ish is more reasonable as complete sets with tyres usually sell for around $2k and rims alone around $1400
I'm unsure what u mean by the Rims not being restored to original condition. I thought the detroits had a machined face and most repairs on them make the repaired section smooth. The more expensive and extensive repairers get it to match properly but they r very expensive, so expensive that ur better off buying a new rim

Re- posting pics, have u hosted the pic on photobucket, etc and then tried?

    Price Change

Thanks for the heads up guys.
I have amended the asking price to $250, which barely covers the cost of the repair.

with machined finish wheels, most repairers would shave off part of the surface to remove the damage. another hard part is to match the factory finish / texture / clear coat.

positive way of looking at it is: shaved off metal = weight reduction
