    FS: 2 x Genuine Ross-Tech Micro-CAN Cables

I have two lightly used genuine Ross-Tech Micro-CAN cables for sale. Both in perfect working order and like new condition, and include documentation and packaging:

    1. Originally acquired from an Australian authorised reseller. Version 1.16, and according to the about screen used to do just one coding change (no DTC clears or adaption saves).

    2. Originally acquired from a UK authorised reseller. Version 1.16, and according to the about screen used to do just two DTC clears and five coding changes (no adaption saves).

The price is $360 for each, including postage to anywhere in Australia. Please PM me with your interest, including if you have a preference for which cable you would like. Sales will be on a first-come first-serve basis.

I'm seemingly not allowed to post attachments to this forum for some reason, so a photo is located at Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

A Note on support from Ross-Tech
Neither cable has ever been formally registered with Ross-Tech for technical support; however, Ross-Tech has a policy that only the first/original end-user is eligible to register at no cost. I do not see how they could possibly know who the first owner is when the cable was bought from a distributor and it has not been registered, but perhaps it is built into the cable or software in some way (in which case, why would you have to register in the first place)? Anyway, new owners could try to register these cables as the first owner to see what happens, but I am not selling these as new, so don't count on that working. If you have your heart set on getting e-mail support from Ross-Tech and becoming a verified user on their forums, that will probably cost you an additional US$99 (paid to Ross-Tech, not me)!

So registering it means that you have email support? If it has been registered, it doesn't mean uts locked out or anything, like windows 20.57x or whatever it's up to now?

No, not at all. The cable is completely useable and the license to activate and fully use the VCDS software that you download from Ross-Tech is built into the dongle. If the cable has previously been registered, you simply are not eligible for free e-mail support or to be validated to post comments and questions on their support forums. Personally, I have not found this an issue as just about every answer you might need can be found within websites such as VWWatercooled, and especially VWvortex where Ross-Tech sponsor a forum in which they seem perfectly happy to participate with other users.

Not officially. Ross-Tech's advice is that you may be able to run it using Windows through a Boot Camp partition, but that configuration is not supported. Personally, I run it on my MacBook Air with no trouble using Windows in a Parallels virtual machine.

ozgti, is that Mk2 in your avatar the car you would want to use VCDS with, or do you have another?

No they never do unless you buy the professional HEX+CAN kits, which are US$699 and US$999 new. The manual is available online, but I didn't find it that good a read. I think most people would tend to hone in on what they want to code, and then try and find an internet resource to explain how it is done.
