EOI Written off MK6 GTi $2,300

    Hi,

Car has been written off so I thought I would see if anyone wants it or if I just take the cash. I don't have room to get it and part it out but if someone does or wants some parts then it may work out well. Crash was front end so the front bar is no good - not sure on the extent of the rest of the damage but it appeared the rest was good. Front 2 bags went off.

edit: i'm in NSW and i'm fairly sure it becomes a stat write off. Basically only good for parts or tracking. Not going to be able to go back on the road.

    It's a DSG with 140k km's.

    Has:
42DD downpipe - and I have the standard one I took off after about 15k
ECU with Stage 2 APR tune, 91, 98, 104 octane tunes
18" Detroits (not mint they have scratches)
    MDI
    RCD
    standard interior in descent/good condition.

if there is anyone keen in the next week I can opt to buy back otherwise it goes to the auctions where it will prob be around double the price I would say.

    What state are you in?
    Repairable or stat write off?

in NSW - pretty sure it's a stat write off.

I would say it's only good for wrecking or tracking.

I don't have any pics - it went straight from the accident to the yard.

only good to wreck or track I would say. The quote from the repairer was 20k damage which sounds crazy to me but I don't have a break down of what's involved. essentially the front end would need to be replaced.

If it had NSW rego on it at the time it was written off (regardless of which state the accident actually took place in), then it's a Statutory Write Off (parts / track only).

    That makes a big difference...

If it had VIC rego then it comes down to how much damage is on it as to whether it's a Stat Write Off (SWO, parts only) OR Repairable Write Off (RWO, Can be repaired & re-registered). VIC registered vehicles must meet a certain damage criteria before they are deemed SWO.

If you meet with the loss assessor just remind him that it has VIC rego and ask if it is going to be a SWO or RWO.

If it's RWO then you can repair and re-register, although this also means that the buy-back price to retain the car could be higher if the assessor is half smart....

i thought the assessor would have been all over this. found one pic he sent me but couldn't put it into the post - only as my avatar and sig looks worse than I remeber. front bar, bonnet, windscreen and potentially the guard.

Unfortunately no... NSW assessor's just go into "auto-pilot" and SWO everything.... See this a fair bit at work.

However in his defence, air bags out is strike one. 3 Strikes and it's SWO regardless of where's its registered.
