Aftermarket Sat nav stereo suit Golf MK 5 or Passat B6 or similar $150

Hi all

I have an aftermarket sat nav that was most recently was in my wife's B6 Passat, and prior to the was in my Passat Wagon.

I bought it from the seller that is named in this thread on Passat world :

GPS/DVD Head Unit Reveiw (#AS-W7 / #Tid 7501)

It is identical to the one discussed in the thread.

The seller sold both for the US and European markets so the radio frequencies are set for Europe which is the same as Australia. That said, the AM frequency did not work on my wife's Passat (my 08 125 TDI ) but worked fine in my Passat (my 07 3.2 V6 ). FM for both was fine. Not sure if it was just an issue between sedan or wagon with the aerial in the rear window or if her car had a dodgy booster, but if AM is important to you it might not be for you, unless you're in Canberra in which case we can test it in your car (takes around 7 mins to fit, a little longer for routing the cables for iPhone etc).

it has IGO 2103 maps, iPhone 30 pin connector, usb connector, input for amps reverse camera etc, canbus for steering wheel controls and auto reverse camera view and finally GPS antenna. It also has the Fakra to din adaptor with built in booster.

All the relevant specs and screen displays are in the above thread, this unit was purchased in 2011. Updated IGO maps are relatively easy to find.

We've traded the Passat a few weeks back for a new Golf so I can't fire it up but it was working when I pulled it out of the car
