Talking Wife is freaking out of the major work on a brand new Rline Allspace

    Hey guys
Posting this thread, hoping it helps you as I have had so much support from you as well.

Got a new Tiguan Rline Allspace and have / and still making some changes as I write this post. So far,

Lowered Springs: I decided to go with the eibach (non Allspace model). Why didnt I go with the Allspace version springs? If you want your car to look level all around, then the version in the photo ticked is the one you want. The allspace version will make the rear of the car still sit a little high, to accommodate for the 2 extra seats / weight in the car. If your not carryling a large load, go with the ones I ticked, or else it will look higher at the back. Also, the ride is perfect. I swear, you cannot tell the difference between factory springs and these ones. I did the calibration as per the forums through OBD11 and the car in comfort and normal is perfect. Stick it to Sport and yes, it's more hard on the bumps, but my wife has it on normal.

Rear Cross Traffic and Blind Spot Monitoring: Our car is missing this feature and I spoke to the owner of Burg Design, and he has a product that is even more precise than the factory apparently. I purchased it and I'm gonna be installing that myself, since the car is ripped into pieces. More on that later. LOL. That's why shes freaking out. You can learn more about this product here Blind Spot Detection System Radar (BSD)by Parksafe | Burg Design

Black Out / De-Chrome: So, I took the car to my panel shop and he said to leave it with him. I decided to come and see where we are at, and the Video found here that I uploaded onto Youtube tells you, that this is a difficult process and I am freaking out myself. Dropping roof liner to get to the roof rails. Pulling off the side wheel arches to get the bars off. Taking the bars off. What a journey. Poor car only has 700 kilometres on the dash. You can watch the video here But there is positive out of this. Since I have the roof lining off, I insulated the roof to help reduce road noise, rain and heat as the roof is quite thin. You can see from the crappy white insulation they put from factory. Tiguan badge and VW logo covers can be purchased from AliExpress.

    Focal Speaker upgrade
: Purchased the Focal VW Drop In Speakers for the front and back. What's it like? It's better quality of sound for sure. But you need a Sub in the boot for sure. If you want that low frequency (LFE) you need the Sub. So I am going to look at adding a Sub that doesn't affect boot space. You need ISVW180 for the fronts and ISVW155 for the rears.

Disable Auto Stop Start. Buy the cable from Aliexpress for $20 and be done with it. It's so easy to install. All you need to do, is, remove the trim around the gear shifter, it pulls up. Take off 4 hex screws to lift the rest of it up, and the cable connector is there. Buy the bypass connector and whalla. Car never turns off at lights. Stupid garbage about emissions etc. Please.

Finally, if you're thinking of installing insulation to the doors, it's not really going to make a huge difference, because there isnt a lot of room at all to get your hands behind the door skin to install it. I got as much as I could get in through the hole of the speaker.

Hope this helps you all. Thanks everyone.

Bloody hell you certainly haven't wasted any time getting the modifications underway - respect.

Obviously the bodyshop have had to do quite a bit of disassembling to get all the chrome pieces out. These parts can be wrapped in vinyl, but the paint is a better/more permanent option, with the trade off being the dissasembly and the upfront time + cost. I can totally understand your wife being a bit concerned about the brand new car.

Ive used those ISVW Focal drop in speakers in a few cars now. They certainly do offer an improvement in sound quality, but they really need some amplification to come alive. Im my current car I opted to try something a bit different and went with the Focal 165AS (splits) in the front, and Focal 165AC (coaxials) in the rear. Initially I just had them running off the factory stereo for a month or so while I was waiting for the amp and cables to arrive. Then I fitted the Focal Impulse 4.320 mini amplifier which gave the speakers more oomph, bass and overall volume but honestly I think they could still use more power.

I have also added a Focal IBus 20 which is an 8" underseat sub with a built in amp. This has added some nice mid-bass to the system, and allowed me to turn the bass down a bit on the other speakers.

    Hey Lucas
Thanks so much for your response. Yeah, a lot of work. Thankfully, the owner of the panel shop is doing it as a love job. I've known them for 25 years. Appreciate the Focal chat. I completely agree with you. They need more oomf and that bit of bottom end. Will look into these item numbers you quoted. Appreciate it very much. They cannot do the doors and windows, as the decals will bend / break. VW quoted me $2300 as a staff price as I used a Tiguan Monochrome VIN number. Because it's the sides of the car, I ended up buying 3M Vinyl in gloss black which I will attempt myself. Cost $80. Can't be that hard. Will post photos, when I hopefully get this thing back this week. Thanks again Lucas

I did the full focal vw kit in my Tig R , you really need the amp to bring those speakers to life . I used the amp to power the front and rear speakers and used a active focal bp20 sub for the lows ...

I have since sold the R and my new Wolfsburg Allspace has the factory HK . If you want the amp with the 2 seperate harness and a focal bp20 sub let me know

    Hey VR
Appreciate it. Thanks for the offer, but I will pass. If Im going to add Subs, being the wifes car, I would either need to have my custom audio guy make a slim box along the back of the back seat from end to end, or I prefer to have it in the wheel, to look genuine and not take up any space. While I know we wont get the same SPL as a slim model, but I also know it will be better. Will send some posts this weekend after I get the front and rear lights PPF'd.

    Finished off, finally

Hey guys. Just wanted to share the final look, so if some of you want to get an idea of how your car could finish up like. The only thing I didnt black out / dechrome, are the side door / window decals. (A) to buy black ones from VW, it will cost as a staff price around $2300. To paint them, risks damaging them when removing or installing them and to do vinyl wrap, is not my preference. But it breaks it up with the wheels too i suppose.

Got the front and rear lights tinted through a company called Project Hiraya in Wetherill Park. The service from the owner and his brother was 1st Class. They use premium quality products and the price was around 30 to 50% cheaper than others. I called 5 places and it all ranged from $200 to do the front headlights, to $550. These guys charged $250 cash.

Any questions, reach out. Take care everyone. Thank you.
