No problem with warranty - just you won't get support if it's not a feature that was sold with the car.
If it's possible to activate the function that's already in the software you just need to find someone with a VCDS cable to do it.
Hi everyone,
Can anyone help? I read on the forum that you can enable it, but not officiallythrough VW.
Are there any real benefit in enabling it? Does it void warranty at all?
Thank you

Yep - it provides live traffic updates if you're using the standard factory satnav. It can be programmed via OBDeleven as well as VCDS cable.

Thank you all for the reply..
Can someone explain to me what OBDEELEN or VCDS is? is that a program or chip? How do I get one?
Thanks again,

Have a read of this as it will take you through the info on obdeleven. VCDS info is in the parent thread but obdeleven may be easier (at least is was for me.)
This will give you some idea of what else you can do.
Volkswagen MK2 Tiguan OBDeleven / VCDS Tweaks List – AutoInstruct
Sam: the tweak to enable Traffic button is not complex, but there can be extra work needed if Radio Data Service (RDS) is not factory enabled.
If you think that you could get interested in doing other tweaks on your car, then you should consider buying an OBD dongle - or a Ross-Tech, VCDS cable (see below).
But the other option is to put-out a request on this forum for a colleague who already owns a diagnostic device and who lives close to you. It might cost you a few beers, but it's another approach!!

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.
