What have people found to be the best style of number plate for the Tiguan with its strange number plate holders ?
Do people have different sizes front and back (i.e. standard & slimline) ?
Is it worth the extra $$$ for custom style plates ?

The Tig number plate holders are made for the full sized front and rear euro plates. We have them on ours and they fit very neatly on the car.
Don’t go with the small euro sized plate for the front. They’re too small for the mount. Like the one in the photo you provided.
I believe the black background are only available in the full sized rear and small front where the white background is available with full sized front and rear. (There’s useless bureaucracy right there.) Although they can be made full sized at additional cost. They’re delivered with the small front and you then have the same number made in the large size and trade in the small plate for it. Why they can’t just make two large ones to begin with only these myplates idiots can tell you.
We stipulated full sized front and rear in black background on the contract so the additional cost was worn by the dealer. Car delivered with small and then the cost of the remake was reimbursed by the dealer.
If you’re not getting Euro size plates then remove the ugly bracket and either fill the holes or use a sticker/bumper plug.

I’m going to say it depends on what colour car you’re getting, plates have to match the car.
Standard State plates are generally look pretty terrible so you’re best off going with a premium option.
