I'm not sure what/if there's differences between the GTI software and that in the Tiguan, however it will probably take the tuners a little bit of time to develop Tiguan specific files. Hopefully it's not a complete rewrite and a lot of the development work that has already been done on other MQB platform cars can be lifted and used for the Tiguan.
I was tossing up between Racingline OEM+ & Revo, I suppose it will depend on who releases theirs first.

I think either of these would be a good option. Realistically if you're just running on the road and not tracking/chasing the last .01 second then you couldn't go wrong with either.

What it's probably going to come down to is local support and who you feel comfortable tuning your car.

As a fellow QLD'er I am interested in what you're doing. I am keen to tune, having never done it before, plus I have no idea where in Brisbane to do it.

    Please keep me/us informed...Thanks

I'm Sunshine Coast myself, but Guy Harding (Harding Performance) in Brisbane does Racingline. He originally had APR (which he installed on my current Tiguan 147 in 2009). You will have to check websites for the other tunes.

When you get these stage 1 updates, what does it do to fuel Efficiency?

2009. With normal driving, it improves, with spirited driving, it worsens.

Looking at doing the same myself, but only buying the 132 to keep to a budget, but it looks as though it has a much higher compression ratio than the 162TSI, 11.65 to 9.6 (ala Golf GTI).

This might cause the tunes to be not as effective on the 132TSI??

You should give VAG motors a call. They are located in Ormiston and they are distributors of Unitronic. The good thing with Unitronic is that you can perform the tune yourself at home. You can install, uninstall, re-install the tune as much as you want, yourself. This is handy come time to take your car to the dealer for service. Just uninstall the tune before taking her to the dealer and reinstall it afterwards.

    Hey lads,

I've got a couple of questions re a Stage 1 tune and would appreciate your input.

If you did a stage 1 tune, when selling the car (let's say privately) would you mention it? I'm guessing no, but that brings me to another question.

Let's say you didn't mention it and joe blow who was buying couldn't tell the difference anyway, but they had an accident at some stage, could someone check the car's computer, see the tune and make you liable somehow?

I guess another way is if you wanted to sell you could just cough up again and get them to reset the tune couldn't you?

    Cheers

Well I'm just waiting for the first person to tune their gen2 Tig and post up some before/after results.

And if you sell you car with a stage 1 tune on it then it's up to the new owner to get insurance that covers his/her car. They will know that it's tuned if they have driven a stock car as it will go a LOT harder than a stock Tig. If they choose not to insure the car as being modified then it's between them and their insurance company to sort out if it ever comes to it.

I have heard dealers not even removing tunes and just selling the car "as-is". If anything the new owner is getting the benefits of the tune for no cost.
