Different tuners will tune the cars slightly differently.

For example APR (which used to be big here in Aus) will hit the boost hard early and tail off towards redline. Whereas other tuners will be more linear and pull strongly to 6,000rpm.

I'm not sure what/if there's differences between the GTI software and that in the Tiguan, however it will probably take the tuners a little bit of time to develop Tiguan specific files. Hopefully it's not a complete rewrite and a lot of the development work that has already been done on other MQB platform cars can be lifted and used for the Tiguan.

I think either of these would be a good option. Realistically if you're just running on the road and not tracking/chasing the last .01 second then you couldn't go wrong with either.

What it's probably going to come down to is local support and who you feel comfortable tuning your car.

I'm Sunshine Coast myself, but Guy Harding (Harding Performance) in Brisbane does Racingline. He originally had APR (which he installed on my current Tiguan 147 in 2009). You will have to check websites for the other tunes.

2009. With normal driving, it improves, with spirited driving, it worsens.

From what I know, this Guy Harding was the reason the APR products were totally overpriced while he was more than happy to spread all sorts of inaccuracies regarding supposed differences in tunes between the US and here justifying the rip off and as a result APR pulled his distribution rights.....which is great! He was also happy to spread outright lies about ABT. Not that I'm an ABT fan but the BS he was spreading was just a joke. He actually said that it was just a couple of wires and did not increase performance at all. I would not trust him with anything.

Do not agree at all. If you knew Guy at all and the way he worked you'd understand that most your comments are totally wrong ....

I know for a fact (saw most of it myself) that when APR used my Amarok for development of the Amarok TSI tune, Guy and his team did in excess of 120 runs on their dyno running different versions of the software as part of this (at their own cost I might add). Good result I might add too as it made in excess of 200kw on a gen 2 TSI EA888 with a tune only ....

Also, running a big operation, distributing hardware and software like that costs a lot of money. When everything you import as a distributor attracts import duty and GST the costs just keep on going up. A privately imported exhaust costs at least 20% less than the wholesale landed cost due those government duties for instance.

And finally, APR USA changed their distribution model around the world. All distributors where cut out overnight, worldwide, APR Aus was just 1 of those .... do not spread lies without checking the facts.

I do not spread lies and would appreciate you not accusing me of it.

This has been repeated so many times but in a nut shell: Understand the markup on services and hardware parts but there is no excuse for a US$600 tune costing AU$2000 here.

Glad you have had a good experience with him. I never dealt with him but had to put up with plenty of his comments on the other forum that were bordering on reputation bashing. Clearly claiming that ABT is a placebo box is not right.
