If they choose not to insure the car as being modified then it's between them and their insurance company to sort out if it ever comes to it.

I have heard dealers not even removing tunes and just selling the car "as-is". If anything the new owner is getting the benefits of the tune for no cost.

Thanks Tigger. I think you're overestimating non-car people - i reckon there's plenty of people out there who wouldn't know better and have never heard of tuning, and would just think "That car felt a bit quicker". Good to hear your thoughts though, I'll definitely be tuning, just not sure when...

A Tiguan is not a car that would sell well if advertised with a tune .... de-activate the tune and sell as stock. Most tunes can be de-activated/returned to stock easily.

If the prospective owner is interested in a tune in your conversations with him, perhaps say that you could ensure it has a tune included at no extra cost! Upsell .... makes it more attractive to the right buyer And then re-activate it.

Sharkie - nice to see you're still alive and well.

Tig162R I'm looking at same for my 2013 132TSI. I've read a lot of stuff on tuning boxes. Some say they are fantastic-----others want to sell them because they've caused problems or don't do a thing. I wish there was a fair dinkum review on different methods of tuning, with genuine dyno results.

Plenty of people have tuned gen1 Tigs with good results. If you were looking to go down the tuning box route I'd only look at JB1/JB4 as these are relatively low cost and have proven gains.

However having said that about the ONLY reason to install a tuning box is because you want to maintain your warranty. With a 4 year old car that really isn't an issue so I would go and get a proper ECU tune.

Gains from a decent tuning box is generally only about 50% what you get from a good ECU tune. So bang for buck you're better off going for the full tune.

I have installed JB1 rev2 on map1 setting on our 162TSI. Has been 3 days now with no issues, toke me like 10 minutes to install.
Have experience with this amazing product as I had JB1 on S3, same install and setup minus one less plug on rev2.

I have the cable which I can play with map1 and map6, but for now very happy with the gains and has waken up the car nicely in all modes.

Awesome, keep us updated with your ongoing experience (ie. if you end up doing a dyno, changing modes etc)

Just ordered a RaceChip Pro 2 from Germany for $400 delivered. This is for 2013 132tsi Pacific .
There is an uphill stretch of road that I will do a test run on in 5th gear. ie before and after fitment of chip. According to advertising I'm going to get 25% increase in hp and torque----For 400 bucks ?? Stay tuned.
