    TJA requires the correct parameter set for the vehicle and camera software version be uploaded to the A5 camera. This can only be done using VCP or the dealer tool ODIS. And requires access to the parameter set, which does not exist for all vehicles or camera software versions.
    ALG is an adaptation channel change in the A5 camera module that can be performed with any tool like OBD11, VCDS etc

    it was one of the first cars to have ALG/TJA activated from the Factory for the Oz market. My understanding is that all new Tiguans have it standard in the current cars but I am happy to be proven wrong. I am sure a lot of owners do not understand that TJA has no direct on/off control switch so they presume it is not fitted/working in their vehicle. The only indicator is the two green lines in the dash display and prior to it working the vehicle has to exceed 70kph for it to operate when the speed drops below 67kph. If those two lines are orange neither ALG nor TJA are active for whatever reason, either ALG has not been activated in the car menus, the camera can't see lines each side or the car never had it activated from the factory.

    Yes if it is factory activated, there is no additional menu option to disable it.
    If you disable lane guidance, you disable TJA.
    TJA is just 'lane guidance plus' effectively.

    As is par for the course with this stuff, there is confusion around the use (and re-use) of acronymns by VW, myself included amongst the confused...
    ALG can mean both Advanced Lane Guidance (a DAP feature) and also Adaptive Lane Guidance (a setting of Advanced Lane Guidance which can be tweaked via adaptation channel - see here)

    So true, and in the final linked post someone starts taking about FLA, whatever that is and confuses the issue even further. Reading the owner's manual is just as bad as the terms get used wrongly all through the book using the same term to describe different things. All in all it is a dog's breakfast and will be until everyone uses the same terminology. Kamold, can you explain your understanding of

    ALG Advanced Lane Guidance
    ALG Adaptive Lane Guidance

    because I for one have not encountered the latter.

    As far as my (extremely limited) understanding is, adaptive lane guidance setting within the DAP feature 'Advanced Lane Guidance' can give a better experience with lane guidance IF you find that the car is 'ping-ponging' between the lane markers whilst locked in a lane. Intervention (when the car steers for you to adjust lane positioning) can be set to 'early' or 'late' and additionally will give you a new menu option in the car menu.

    I don't know which setting gives a better result, but I think the point is it gives you a little configuration of the feature which from factory is not exposed to the driver.

    Lastly FLA (front light assist) is as far as I know High Beam Assist (HBA). This feature also uses the A5 camera module, but in this case to monitor the road ahead so that high beam is automatically dipped for approaching traffic, or if you approach another vehicle from behind.

    Not to be confused with DLA of course (Dynamic Light Assist) which is effectively HBA+, for vehicles with variable light distribution LED headlamps...

    OK, so I've just spent 30 mins driving around in traffic to see if I could get this figured out and this is what I've experienced.
    1. If I'm driving over 67 kph the Advanced Lane Guidance comes on automatically and will drop out around 62 kph. I have the Adaptive Lane Guidance tweek, and it's set to Early. The car does move about a little but generally it's ok.
    2. If I turn on Adaptive (Advanced?) Cruise Control above 60kph the car will keep a steady distance from the car in front of me.
    3. If there is a fair bend in the road the car will switch off Advanced Lane Guidance so you should be ready to take over.
    4. If you touch the brake it switches off and you have to "Res"
    5. If the car in front slows below 62 it will continue to keep following and slowly gets closer as the speed drops. As long as there are no sharpish bends the Advanced Lane Guidance stays on, and will go green again soon after any bends where it has switched itself off.
    6. If the car in front stops my car stops, and will restart if it's been still for a short time (three seconds seems about right), otherwise I have to touch the accelerator but Advanced Lane Guidance stays on.
    7. At any speed below 67 kph I can "Set" the Adaptive Cruise Control and the car seems to go into Traffic Jam Assist mode straight away.

    So you do have TJA or so it seems. I always forget about turning on ACC as I have never turned mine off since I have owned the car.
