I dont know the specifics. The cars were dropped at the dealer in the morning and were ready by 1pm. The service manager did mention that it was the first time they were performing this update, and that the cars would be taken on a test drive once the update had been completed.

Here is page 193 of MY18 RHD AUS manual showing TJA is now an extension of lane assist and ACC (there is another section saying similar about Pedestrian detection now part of Front Assist). Page 35 shows the line items for Driver Assist push button. I drove for a good 5 minutes in a jam with it keeping up with crawling traffic / stopped and started about 5 times, steered itself. Only had to press RES once or twice for long stops.

    MY17 manual is the same.

If anyone is interested in looking more into the coding for this here is the spreadsheet that I setup comparing the codings for modules A5 and 13:

    Sign in to your account

As I said I still think it is a SWaP option that would need to be enabled by VW but would love to be proven wrong. Do have to say that since it still doesn't remove the 3 second limitation I'm not that disappointed that I haven't been able to get it going.

What about the two differences in the ACC? Did you try them?

I've just taken delivery in Melbourne of a Tiguan Highline 162TSI DAP MY18 and have the following bytes for modules 13 and A5:

Thanks, I have added yours to the spreadsheet. I am assuming you have TJA enabled on yours (ALG at all speeds when ACC turned on)?
Once again yours has Byte 13 set to 40 in Module 13 along with all others with TJA enabled so this still looks to be the only way to enable it which needs to be done by VW.

Thanks NZ_GolfR. I'm on a steep learning curve at the moment but yes ALG is active when ACC is on even at low speeds. The 3 second limit applies when the vehicle brings itself to a complete stop.

I have noticed that in suburban streets marked with single lines nearest the curb and centre double lines (which in Victoria are broken in front of every driveway meaning there can be half the overall length of double lines missing) the ALG icon can change to amber. It probably works better in suburban streets in Sydney where crossing double lines to enter a property is allowed and the double lines would be painted in a contiguous length.
