I've seen a couple of white ones over the past few days, so noticeable with that front bumper.

I was quoted $64,700 for that white one with a sunroof one month ago. They initially quoted $69 over the phone but when questioned where they got that price from she said she will check and call me back which she did and price came down to $64,700. Minus the $2k for sunroof that would be $62,700 which I think is about the correct drive away RRP in nsw.

The prices some people are quoting on here eg: $56k ,$58k I wouldn’t be using that as a reference. The difference in states is obviously making a difference however I’m yet to be convinced that you can get the same car around $6k or $7k cheaper. So don’t feel too bad. I am expecting to pay around $62-$64k with sunroof in nsw also.

There is a white one on car sales without sunroof for $60,900 driveway in qld. Maybe try use that as a leverage bar to try and bring it down a little.

    Hi Willy,

IMO the dealer can charge whatever they want. if a buyer agrees to it then they aren't doing anything "illegal"? Surely it's the buyer's responsibility to know what they are signing up for?

if you arent happy with the price then you should shop around and do more haggling until you get a price you are happy with (may risk losing your deposit and potentially having to wait for next batch etc)

the limitation with this car is that it's rare, new and in high demand, thus dealers will charge premium for it. If you can find a dealer to play ball then good on you. But honestly, asking people of you've been "ripped off" isn't really going to achieve anything because some people will sign on RRP and some would have negotiated

at the end of the day if you signed the deal feeling satisfied with the price then you've done the right thing! i think someone has stated this before, but comparing prices with online forums isn't going to do much for you...

I dont mean to come across as negative, jst my 2c!

Thanks for that input. I guess what I did wrong was I knew I could afford a certain figure/repayments. Now enstead of bring down the price of the car they just managed to squeeze me into a five year plan I was comfortable paying. But I never thought of trying to push the car down in price. All in all I’m going to try push down the price a little evan tho I’m meant to be picking up the car tomorrow. After all one thousand two thousand is money. And money I work hard for. If I can save it I’ll try. Hmmm my first new car Tiguan Wolfsburg Edition - Photos lesson learnt. I appreciate every body’s input. No harsh feeling I’m open to all criticism. Thanks guys.

Your one hundred per cent rite. It’s my first new car and me and my partner were only thinking about how much our repayments would be. Now when it comes to buying second hand cars I’m king. Being panel beater, mechanic by trade. But dam I feel silly I didn’t try pushing for a better price. At the time we were going to buy an r line 162. Three months ago. We sold our Audi A4 which was dated 2011 model and thought we would by the r line. Than i found out that a new better model was coming out. So I didn’t think about trying to get price down. Any ways all in all I’ll have a chat with them see if they can do a little better. Thanks guys. Cheers.

I was quoted almost $69k by Sydney City VW. They were unwilling to negotiate before I put down a deposit. Another dealership ended up quoting me $62.8k, but I negotiated that down to $58k in the end. I did contact a car broker who got an offer of $60k.

Its really dependent on the dealership and which salesperson you're working with in my opinion.

Yeah We have been paying for a hire car for nearly three months now. Waiting for this car at the end of the day I’ll try my best. My family’s bought three cars with them this year. I guess I trusted them to much to the best they could for me. Any ways lesson learnt life goes on. Won’t happen again lol

Again I think the price is about right so don’t be too hard on ya self mate.

I wouldn’t be saying you got “ripped off” that’s for sure.

Good luck and enjoy your purchase!
