They seem to fit different types There are the Westfalia bars which are nice and neat and the HR bars with the 50mm square shaft so who has which one
My VW one came with a black, plastic plug inserted. The towbar proper was in a black satchel inside the boot.

I went for the sturdier, 50mm insert style. It was sold and stickers as genuine VW. Unsure if the true manufacturer.
I’m not a fan of the euro-style, fold-away curved ones. Less options for hitch height (and bike carriers)
I have normal 50mm hitch
Might just get a blank plug and whack a VW sticker on it
Hi all
Can I please get some feedback on people’s experiences on towing with their Tig.
I have towed 4 different trailers over the past 18months of ownership.
Each trailer whether empty or full has had this issue of when travelling between 100-110k/hr you get some serious vibrations on the back end of the Tig. It feels like it’s oscillating up and down very quickly and shaking the Tig.
Accelerating or braking doesn’t stop it until you are below 100 or above 115k/hr.
I have tried comfort, normal and sport settings on DCC and no difference
I have checked tow bar and tow ball to ensure everything is done up tight and can’t find the cause.
Is this a Known Tig issue?

Have you loaded the trailer correctly so that you have an appreciable ball weight on it. Have you checked the tyres on the trailer to make sure they havent got out of round faults. Trailers can have a point where they do strange things and it would pay to tow them with a different vehicle and see if it still happens

Thanks HB
Yes when loaded I always secure the load to the front of the trailer to avoid nothing sliding forward if I need to emergency brake.
Never had the issue with any of my previous 4 cars, so just curious if it’s just an issue with my particular setup

You sound like you’ve made a considered approach to losing the trailer and the feelings you’re getting.
In forward-biasing the load, could you have maybe overloaded the front of the trailer- vs ideal (weight centred over trailer axles) casting the trailers to get a shimmy on under certain accel/decel/bumps?
A trailer or a Caravan should always be loaded ON that is with a certain amount loaded on the ball .
If you load it above the axles with the load centred above them you will have problems
You NEVER load a trailer OFF or you will have clanging an d banging from the hitch and almost certainly severe instability at any decent speed. A van with two much ball weight will cause pitching unless you use a WDH to damp that down by the force of the connection..
Euro vans have different construction to AUS behemoths and so thats why VW's have a lower ball limit than say a Landcruiser which can tow with 350kg on the ball. As long as I diesels trailer has up to 100kg on the ball it should be fairly stable and not judder like that, which is a symptom of too light a ball weight
