You mean like a standard size sunroof? I’ve never seen one on an Allspace. What about the ambient lighting, thought it was disabled and then removed altogether.

I haven’t looked into it, but I think the newer models don’t have now. Probably cheaper removing it, than having to use certain parts/practices to make it safe (avoid recalls)

VW are cheapening as many things as possible lately in their mainstream lineup, it seems. Plastics, struts, buttons all getting worse and/or removed

Dieselgate must not be fun to pay for.

You should see the difference between the Golf 7 and Golf 8 for cheapening things.

I have the R-Line with pano roof and everyone that gets in the back comments on how light and airy it feels with the sun blind open.

We love the sunroof and are so glad that we got it. We have an R-Line and I was worried that the black roof lining might make it really dark, but the sunroof makes the cabin really light and bright. We don't have any issues with heat at all. The vast majority of the time we have the blind open and we do actually open it up a lot (both tilt and also fully open).

My 162TSI Highline Allspace R-Line has developed a leak which may be due to a faulty panoramic sunroof. I purchased it new in February 2019, it's done 11,500km and was serviced at 12 months.
Water is pooling in the left rear footwell, some dampness in the front left footwell also, accompanied by a characteristic musty odour (cold wintry Melbourne - this water doesn't want to dry away). Right side footwells are dry as a bone.
Car has not had much use in the last 6 months and is usually parked outside, level ground and not too many trees about. My previous car had a sunroof and was parked in the same spot for 6 years and never had so much as a drop of ingress - I don't reckon it's a particularly dirty spot. I checked the outlets for all the drainpipes and they were relatively free of muck. I also ran some water into the sunroof drain channel and the water flowed freely from both left outlets, however the rear flow was somewhat less. I was able to dam the flow so that water exited the left rear drain only and a bucket under the rear outlet to compare with the volume going in. I reckon only about half came through. The rear footwell was also noticeably wetter.
Due to Melbourne's stage 4 lockdown and the roadmap out of it, the next booking I can get with the dealer is not until late October .
Any thoughts on an interim treatment to remove the water and smell?

Run a bit of gaffer tape over that side of the sun roof to prevent any further water

Make the booking with vw now- so the issue is documented. Let them know the car can’t be kept elsewhere and what will they do for this issue and subsequent areas of the car being affected?

This happened to me it was the left side and I am in VIC as well. VW had serviced my car the previous week - but they obviously didn’t clean the sunroof drains. I had to remove the boot lining panels and dry the whole car out to get the water out.

On my car they were blocked where they drain under the back of the car not at the roof. They have little covers on them to stop spiders crawling into the drains. Some line trimmer filament will do the trick to help unblock it. It’s also possible that one of the drain joiners isn’t connected properly in your car - less likely if it’s new.
