Tiguan Roof Bars & Sunroof

hi everyone... I'm new here, I've looked through the history and saw some comments but couldn't find a definitive answer, so thought I'd start a new thread.

I've ordered a new Tiguan which has a sunroof and will need to put some roof bars on it so I can mount a bicycle rack. I still want to be able to use the sunroof while it's mounted too.

Does anyone know what clearance is required to be able to safely operate the sunroof?

Does anyone here have a 2nd Gen Tiguan with a sunroof and roof bars fitted? Does your sunroof still tilt and open cleanly and safely?

I was thinking about the Genuine VW bars, but not sure if they come in black?

Was also looking at the Whispbar (Flush Bar - The Seamless Look Roof Rack | Whispbar) since it looks like it a bit higher than the Thule, but still looks better than the Genuine VW bars on the car?

Has anyone else done the research on this and got any recommendations?

Just wondering if anyone can confirm if the flush type bars (Thule wingbar edge) will work over my Sunroof?

I'm not 100% but I don't think there is the clearance for any of the flush bars.

I was thinking about this the other day and have pretty much decided to get some red tape to cover the sunroof switch when the bars are on. Mainly because flush bars look much better and also because I don't think I could put up with the wind noise with the roof open and bars and 2 bikes right above my head.

They do look so much better so maybe that’s a plan with the tape

Sunroof Height....

The whisper bars do look better, but just means that you'll also need to remove them whenever you want to fully open the sunroof
