if you had have said "better on a long wheelbase to aid handling" I might have believed you...but cargo space is irrelevant for an R performance variant.

lol! Compared with the TD V6 in the Jeep, there won't be a problem with ANY VW SUV. Well at least until we replace the Jeep with the new Toureg.

Touareg is apparently now early 2019? There's also rumours of a 27" (not a typo!) screen

2017 Tiguan 162TSI Highline, Indium Grey with R-Line Pack
Hey All, I’m currently in the market for a new car and am heavily considering the Tiguan 162tsi with Rline. I’m getting out of an S3 and am wondering if it’s worthwhile waiting to see if a Tiguan R actually becomes a reality. Anyone have any insights, thoughts or predictions if it will happen and if so when ?
Thanks!
I don't think there's anything coming this way any time soon. Unfortunately we missed out on the 176kW bi-turbo diesel that is available in Europe as this is the top of the line model for most other markets.
Reality is VW isn't going to develop an R model just for Australia as the numbers just wouldn't stack up.

Yep make sense, I wouldn’t imagine they would develop it for the aus market but surely there would be demand for high performance petrol in Europe and a few other spots that wont get the BiTurbo diesel. They have the block ready to go from the Golf R.. anyway got to decide if the 162 has enough go to keep me interested!
