Exclamation Tiguan needs a new (under warranty) steering control arm

My Tiguan needs a new (under warranty) steering control arm (or something like that). Makes a soft creaking noise when turning the wheel.

The creaking noise is ever so faint and hard to hear when music/radio is on. Actually heard it on way the dealer for its 1000km checkup.

Just posting it out there for all you folks to do some testing and if at all its making a noise, take it in.

I have this issue too! I took it in for servicing a few weeks ago. They replaced something in the steering column. The sound was gone but now is back...

Do you know of this is a serious fault?

    This is disappointing

Either a faulty part (2 in 100) or it doesn't look like VW has any quality control prior to the vehicle leaving the factory

Very interesting, we had this noise on our 162TSI at about the 12,500km mark and asked them to look at it in the 15k service. Was told it was just some sand in the joints of the vehicle and they cleaned it out. Noise went away for about 500km and is now back.

30k service is in a couple of weeks so will ask again and refer them to this.

    Many thanks!

It has now been fixed, no fluff and no fuss. No sand or its normal talk.

Let us know how it goes because it might come back!

My Tiguan recently started developing exactly the same sound when turning steering left right ,most to hear when parking car but can hear sometime in bends when windows is open in slow speed . Similar sound as spring in gun is loaded over cog and clicking or like when pencil is clicked on off fast. I am wondering if this could be related if you washing constantly wheels and brakes/ callipers that water and cleaning liquid would remove grease from joint or pvc balls so it make such faint click click sound

I don't see how washing it would do anything. The part they replaced is inside the car behind the steering wheel

I have my Tig almost 2 years now, and this sound is with me from the second day (on first I was to excited to hear any noise ).

There are cables for Airbag and Multifunction "behind" wheel, and this is source of this sound. Not sure I'm using correct words, but "spring cable" is how I can describe it.

Forget it. Almost all Tiguans of people I know sooner or later hear them
