Unfortunately I don’t think it’ll be here until late this year/early next year (COVID 19 has likely seen it pushed back 3-6 months). I’m waiting for the R to hopefully make its way down under!

Doesn't look like it unfortunately. Saw this statement from VW Australia on CarAdvice:
The 2021 Tiguan will launch in Europe later this year, however Volkswagen Australia predicts – due to disruptions caused by COVID-19 – that the revised Tiguan won't see Australia until some time next year.
"With factories re-starting from next week, we'd say early Q2 2021 for (arrival of) the updated Tiguan," a Volkswagen Australia spokesperson told CarAdvice.

VW #2: MY19 Tiguan 162TSI Wolfsburg Edition - Indium Grey - Panoramic Sunroof

I presume then, the 'R' version would be another 12 months after that. That'll be around the time my lease is up...
2018 Allspace 162TSI R Line
I can’t see the justification in buying an Audi Q5 when I can buy a fully loaded all space Tiguan R line for around $60k drive away.
Have done my research, this will be my next car.

Now - T-Roc R, Audi Q5
Past VWs- T-Roc R-Line, Golf 6, 7 and 7.5, Touareg 7L and 7P, Passat B5.5, Polo MK3, Polo MK4 and GTI
Q7 is another size larger and infinitely more luxurious.
The Allspace is in between the Q5 and Q7 in my eyes size wise.

I see they have an online price with everything for $60,390 driveway.
