Lots of parts are made in China these days. That’s probably also why it’s half the price. Though with the intercooler unless you’re doing a DIY then the installation will be almost the same cost as the part.

The other thing to keep in mind/check is compatibility with the stock intercooler pipes (if you’re planning on using the stock ones). The Wagner intercooler I bought included the intercooler pipes suitable for the Tiguan, however that’s because the Wagner intercooler inlets and outlets are a larger diameter so the stock pipes wouldn’t fit.

I’m returning my 162 Tig to OEM if anyone is interested in some APR hardware.
As new APR main carbon intake and stage 2 pipes (cost $1300). Have the box for it. Been on the car for just over a month. Also have cast APR turbo elbow and APR turbo muffler delete. Message me if interested. $1200 for the lot, have receipts totaling $1900 for the above.

Why the change of heart? New years resolution to stop spending $ on car parts?

Lol, no Tigger. I’m going to buy an Audi. Head over heals in love with the 2.5TSFI, just haven’t decided on a second hand low klms RS3 or wait for an RSQ3.

Absolutely love my Tig but getting the performance I want as a daily driver is costly, and then it becomes a car that I have to keep because it’s very difficult to sell modified late model cars.
Instead I will start with a platform that has 400 odd horses to begin with, stage 1 tune, IC upgrade and intake, a DSG tune and an E85 map for when I’m feeling like a total ratbag.
Either way I’m shelling out more coin, but I just can’t seem to remove my but from my mates RS3. It’s note is exactly what I want to hear and although the stock RS is a bit laggy the stage 1 tune definitely flicks that.

Second hand low Klm RS3’s are overpriced massively at present but once the new model is closer to being released I reckon I can find a good deal on one. Best to get ready for that, fortunately I’m in no hurry and may have some waiting to do to find the right price but that’s all good.

I can vouch that a tuned RS3 with injectors and E85 is a weapon.

Would leave my stage3 Tig for dead.

I drove my sisters Golf R that I had modified and sold to her, and that made me miss a low Centre of gravity, rock hard suspension- so much.

I’m sticking with the Tiguan for a few years but I’ll definitely be getting a 2022 golf R again or thereabouts.

    Just different weapons altogether!

In saying that, really like the Tiguan and what it does for what it is - an suv!

My brother in law has an RS3 and he let me drive it the week he bought it - amazing sound and performance.

Yeh they are beastly, even stock. 12.1’s off the showroom floor is impressive as hell, a few minor tweaks iron out throttle response, my biggest gripe when I drove a stocker was the pedal travel was long and nothing really happened until you buried it. Tunes have improved that massively and I can’t turn a blind eye any more lol.

The EA888 is an awesome little 4 banger and loves mods but it would take a hell of a lot of coin to get it a Tig anywhere near a stock RS3. Two completely different platforms that can’t be compared really.

The RSQ3 is at the top of my list, I like SUV’s and the ride so depending on when they hit our shores will determine that outcome. 2nd quarter of 2020 is all but confirmed, I can wait that long but only if they arrive then. That sweet running gear in a small SUV, yes please!

I believe that Gordie from E-Tuners in Melbourne may know of a recently fully worked RS3 FL for sale.

Thanks Davman. Sounds like a proper weapon but it’s not quite what I’m looking for, appreciate the heads up though. You know how it goes, half the fun is progressively modding your car. I’m going to find a stock as a rock RS3 FL, get it checked out via engine management and visually to make sure it hasn’t had any tunes or had any removed and go from there, that way Ive got a good idea of what I’ve got. Not planning on heaps of mods or chasing big numbers (well not 10 seconds anyhow lol) just those few mods I mentioned above. There are a number of PFL and FL RS3’s for sale at present, quite a few have had tunes. Some Ive seen are not servicing every 7500klms which is the absolute max you want to be doing service intervals with a tuned hypo car in my view, at least that’s how we have always done all our modded cars. Oil and filter every 5k and following specs as required at intervals depending on how the car has been enhanced and driven. All lubricants get a serious look in and dumped.

Usually the cheapest way to get a quick car is to buy one that someone else has spent the cash on to upgrade, they are hard to sell and even harder to buy I reckon. Tiguan IS38 and Big turbo upgrades

This geed me up so much I jumped on cars ales and saw a bunch of S3s, Golf Rs and RS3s in my price range.. seriously thinking about it.. but I feel like I have unfinished business with the Tiguan before I move on.

I just had the gearbox replaced and the car drives amazing, the intercooler is getting fitted in a few weeks.. might reassess end of year depending on how this tune goes.

But I’m with you I really like having an suv as I have had hatches for ages.. hmmm.. will a 2.5 Ltr fit in a Tiguan?
