Watched this video last night of a turbo modification factory in Germany, lots of Golf MK7 turbos in their factory for rebuilts and upgrades. Mentioned TT500 turbo for the MK7 which they are working on.

Maybe your Tig was adapting to the the mods, that is good news about CEL, fingers crossed for you.

A hybrid IS38 would be amazing on the Tig, 500 HP would be pushing the limits of the stock engine. Although The Turbo Engineers have a number of hybrid turbos including the TTE610 which is rated upto 620HP fot a GTI or Golf R.

Yeah but we get the DQ500 which is a big plus. There's definitely a limit to how much boost you can run with stock internals though.

Its gone off my itself twice and come back on, I wont hold my breath this time. Usually CEL you need to clear with VCDS or similiar.

MRC in the UK are running 600hp hybrid turbos on stock engines (with meth though), gotta wonder about how long they last till they go bang...

An OEM+ Stage 3 Tig (or any is38 hybrid) would be crazy!

It's not power that blows motors apart, it's torque.

If you have effective strategies such as limiting torque then you can keep motors together, an easy way is boost by RPM or torque map the tune as you will.

Ideally you increase boost once you go past peak torque, this essentially limits torque and keeps motors together. Another strategy is to be super relaxed with timing where peak torque is, less timing = less torque/power at that RPM/load point.

Ive been driving around with an on and off CEL that’s been a tad annoying. I’ve finally bit the bullet and changed my secondary O2 sensor and it seems to have rectified the problem. My mechanic swore he had never seen a shot O2 sensor after years of servicing/ modifying VWs so left that as a last resort change.

As an observation I noticed that the O2 sensor had a white coating when I was running the pops and bangs file vs. the expected carbon build up without the pops and bangs file. I might leave off the pops and bangs file as it does tend to draw a bit of attention, and a bit embarrassing when I’m doing the kids school drop off.

My latest file no CEL for 5 days. Usually comes on after 3 days. TOUCH WOOD

My pops and bangs are only on in sport mode, you drive around in sports mode all the time?

I've got a mild crackle in my Scirocco and that's only in S and M. In D it's "normal". I haven't heard of crackle maps causing issues for O2 sensors but I guess it's possible.

Good news about your CEL, fingers crossed for you. I tend to drive in sports mode, I might as well enjoy the car! Gave it a few calculated squirts today and whilst the HSV was spinning its tyres and fish tailing, the Tig just hightailed it out of there.....
