Not sure if it was all sponsored or if it was done at "mates rates". I'm sure they got a good deal either way.

Traction will most likely be an issue particularly if they stick to their sponsored RE003's which they put on all their other builds.

Not that I have a problem with their sponsorships as it keeps the show on free to air rather than on a subscription channel. I kind of laugh when they crack out the can of WD40 every episode but hey I get that and they're pretty open with it so it not like it's "hidden" product placement.

It’s a good mix of humour and cars, I’m glad they chose a dub and an awd one. WD40 is the miracle spray that will solve a lot of mechanical issues....I have my fair share of stories, they prob get sent a case from the manufacturer.

How’s the base tune going on the Tig? When are you getting custom tuned? I’m excited about the results....

Base tune is fine. I've got the ECU tune only at this stage and running the stock DSG file. It actually works quite well in S mode as the revs are kept above 2,000rpm. If you drive in D it can be a bit "doughy" down low but that is to be expected. I imagine that with the DSG remap this will get fixed up.

One of the biggest changes has been the 034 dogbone insert. On start-up there is quite a heavy thunk from the engine bay, however take-off from stationary feels a lot more direct transfer of power to the wheels.

Car is booked in Tuesday/Wednesday next week so hopefully the HPFP tool is in and the car can get tuned on the dyno.

I'm thinking they may find the limits of the Bridgestone RE003's on this car.

Those tyres are pretty grippy, problem with VWs they don't run proper mechanical differentials so you're not putting down torque equally.

A set of 235 section RE003 on an AWD EVO Lancer with a proper front diff will hook up 350kW at all fours (good comparison as it's front bias too).

New tune file loaded on this morning and we logged the boost vs rpm just to check the turbo response.

Really happy with how the TTE475 spools up (which is one of the main reasons I chose to go with this turbo):

Now to get the fuel pump installed and turn it up! Currently running 20psi and will aim for around 26psi once it's dyno tuned.

Nice one! On the graph it looks like the turbo is hitting 2.25 Bar isn’t that almost 33 PSI? Can’t wait for the full tune!

The values for boost that are recorded in the ECU (and on VCDS) are absolute pressure so you have to take 14.7psi off the value to get the amount of boost above atmospheric pressure (gauge pressure) which is what people usually look at.

    Maximum boost value was 2.35bara = 1.35barg (or 19.6psig)

Cool, thank makes sense! Do you have the performance monitor in your Tig with the digital boost gauge?
