Just noticed that the new Tigs are missing the ESC OFF/ESP Sport button next to the gear shifter, when did they delete this? If it’s hidden in the menu that must be a pain to have to click into to intiate launch control. Does anyone know when this was deleted and whether it takes long to enable when you need to launch?

I looked on ECS Tuning and noticed you could buy the button and module/wires to fit it, but that really is a shame to have got rid of the button.

3 touches and you have Launch Control. "Car" > "Settings > "ESC Sport" or "ASR Off"

Update on Intercooler, going to go with Wagner. I don't really want to take a $1.5-2k gamble over hoses.

Three touches is ok, prefer just pressing one button. If you are lining up at the traffic lights, it’s less buttons to press....

I think Wagner is a good option, especially if they make the hoses specific to the Tig.

Tiguan IS38 and Big turbo upgrades

I have the Wagner intercooler on order too. Mainly went this way because it more of a known quantity in terms of fitting. Don’t want to be halfway through the install to work out hoses are wrong length.

Also the 3 button press in the menus for traction control. It would be nicer with a button but I don’t often use LC so I can live with it. Mine is a 2017 build MY18 spec.

There is an IS38 Tig out of Russia running an R600 intake and Wagner Intercooler, so this combo is tried and proven.

Did you decide on whether you are changing the intake hose from the intake to the turbo inlet?

Anyone afraid of Warranty rejections with any of these modifications.
I want to do a stage 1 APR on my wife's Tig but scared to, let along a full IS38 Turbo upgrade

I would hold of on Intake Hose unless 100% it fits Tiguan. I am learning the hard way that the intake sit close to the turbo than the mk7, see pics.

Tigger73 will chime in with a more educated response but in general EA888.3 is a pretty bullet proof motor. The DQ500 is VAGs strongest DSG box. Then there is the worst case scenario where something goes wrong, I know that I am my warranty now.

Couple of points to consider in terms of the risk when modifying a vehicle that VW may void the warranty:

-You could wait until 12 months to see if there are any faults with the Tig prior to tuning. This doesn’t remove the risk completely, but gives you some comfort.

-As others have said even if you tune, and revert to stock for servicing they may detect it. I’ve chosen to only service my vehicle at independent Vw specialists.

I’ve gone way beyond a simple revert to stock tune, and I made this decision considering all the risks. I absolutely love the Tig now with its huge power increase and smooth DSG, I honestly think it’s the perfect performance SUV. Just my 2c.

APR Australia are also working on bringing their APR plus warranty program here within the next year

Interesting fact about the Medium SUV Segment, the only SUV faster that the Tig is a Porsche Macan.
