    BUMP

hi guys, a bit of a noob with the insurance and caring about insurance in general, as this will be my first brand new car.

Just wondering if you had any suggestions for insurers for the 162 tsi r-line?

There's been a few posts in other threads with indications on costs etc. Not all insurers had the 162TI listed (you would have had to call them up) but I'd say most of them will have it as an option now.

My current Jetta is insured with NRMA and has a fairly low premium (I think around $600) but I got a quote from NRMA for the Tiguan (162TSI R-Line with the lot) and it came in at just over $1000, so I'll be shopping around a bit.

It's worth remembering that even the timing of a quote will vary wildly, much less differences for location, drivers, specs on car and so on.. eg. my now retired S3 was under $500 in Dec 15 (and would have remained there had I not sold it) but if I'd only commenced insuring in Dec 16 it was almost double that.

Chuck in the other variables and it is almost pointless trying to compare quotes.

If you live in the sticks, it's under $450, with a $650 excess. That's with the maximum no-claim and agreed $50k value.

Ozsko....my wife has just called GIO today and ask for the comprehensive, we are with them on business, home and everything. My $wife told them Car cost 60K, they gave my wife $2400 for platinum, and the other plan was $2000 ....wow ...

I don't know if it makes any difference but I am an old fart (retired) and in the end we insured with Southcorp, same company different phone number and Platinum with life of car replacement cost somewhere between $1200 & $1300. That is with one named driver (male) who is 28 years old and who has had one insurance claim and no traffic offences in his driver history. Replacement value for my car I set at 55K, it cost less but the figure sounded good.

I'm with NRMA and transferred my current policy to the new Tiguan and got a rebate of $15. My comprehensive premium on the GTI was $506, so Tiguan is $491 with $800 excess.

I'm 41 yrs old and live in Brisbane suburbs. I did not take windscreen or hire car either. I add those on when I need to

Edit: Not sure why anyone would take anything but market value as my insurance covers new for old replacement within 2 yrs if its a write off which negates the market/agreed value.

I just did an NRMA online quote for my 162/DAP and it came out at about $1100 basic comprehensive, no accidents, offences or claims in that. It is nearly a pointless exercise comparing insurance costs as there are two many mitigating circumstances.

Mine is the same. My Jetta is only about $600 but the Tiguan comes in at around $1100. I'm going to give them a call.
