Tiguan Highline 162TSI vs Tiguan Highline 162TSI (+ R-line Package)

I have test driven the Tiguan Highline 162TSI (without the R-line package)

Quietness was good and so too was the handling

Has anyone driven both and can tell me their experience of the Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC) and 20" Wheels ?

1) Do the 20" Wheels make the car nosier in the cabin (tyre road noise or pot hole bumps)?

2) Do the 20" Wheels make the bumps (i.e. pot holes) on the road harsher even with ACC set to Comfort?

3) Is the Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC) a gimmick?
- If not, what is the difference you experience compared to Highline non R-line?

4) If you have the ACC set to comfort (with 20" Wheels) is the ride similar to non R-line on 18" Wheels?

5) Do you notice a difference in driving the R-line with ACC set to Sport compared to the non R-line?

I test drove a Sportline with 20's today and the ACC and ride was certainly comfortable enough. No complaints from either myself or my wife.

One thing to keep in mind that even though the rims are 20", the tyre size is 235/45 R20 for the Sportline (and 255/40 R20 for the R-line). There's still a decent amount of sidewall. It's not like you're running 20 profile tyres.

We didn't have an extensive test drive so didn't really play with any of the settings.

If it was a big issue I'm sure you would have heard people complaining about the ride on here but by all accounts there's no major issues with the ride quality.

Here in Blacktown we have awful roads as rough as a bears behind, with our R-line in normal mode, all I can say is the ride is comfortable and super quiet in regards to road noise, no issue, the engine is the dominant sound.

Might be a good idea to find out how much replacement tyres cost. I have no idea if 20s will cost a lot more than 19s or 18s but I got a rude shock when I had to buy my first set of 18s - they were pretty uncommon back in 2008 compared to 17s.

Might be a good idea to find out how much replacement tyres cost. I have no idea if 20s will cost a lot more than 19s or 18s but I got a rude shock when I had to buy my first set of 18s - they were pretty uncommon back in 2008 compared to 17s.

I've recently replaced my Contisport 5s for $395 each. There was a deal on the higher rated speed ones otherwise they're usually about $490/tyre.
I ended up taking my original tyres off early (at 20k km) as I wanted maximum tread depth with highway driving etc through winter.
I've kept the original tyres as they still had reasonable amount of meat on them:
Front 2.5-3mm (30% left)
Rear 5mm (70% left)

They should last another 5-8k km when swapping them F&R.
I'll refit them down the track when I'm not doing so much highway driving.

Personally think that’s the least thing to worry about. My concern is curb rash on those lovely Suzuka rims, as they protrude past Tyre wall significantly. My other half has been warned!

I'd also suggest using the 360° cameras when in carparks so you see what is beside you..

My wife miss judges a roundabout so not much can help there..

On the plus side.. it's my daily driver at the moment as she is too scarred she will damage it again so she gets the trendline golf and I get the Tig.. for a few months anyway..
