Have a look at my thread in here on my Easter road trip for my thoughts on Adaptive Chassis Control.
TLDR: It's awesome - you should get it!
Hi Guys,
We have had a Mk7 gti and comfort line in the garage for a few years now and can offer a little experience;
1- the adaptive suspension = really good, when i first got my gti we went on a road trip and i tested out the different settings and couldn't pick the difference, but after a few months, it seemed to be dramatically different, we would go on a long road trip, put in in comfort and it would feel like you were floating along in a commodore, then around town i just left it in the normal setting for more spirited driving.
2- progressive steering, also really good, i was lucky enough to drive 2 golfs side by side one with one without, with is beautiful to drive, without is also good, but where i really noticed was on tight turns where you have extra work on the wheel.
In the last month i swapped the GTi for a r-line Tiguan - because we needed more space, i was actually tossing up between the sport line and Rline, i know there is nearly 10k in it plus the great finance on the sportline. but when i drove the sport line after getting out of my GTi it just didn't feel special, so after about a month of deliberation, i sucked it up and went for the Rline and have not looked back.
the only thing that i thought could have been a little better is the brakes, they could have a bit more bite.
ACC is sport transforms the car and makes it so much tighter, its way too sloppy in all other modes, especially driving through the mountains.
Previous Golf R ACC also made a huge different to the way to car drives.
If you have time to wait and budget for it then R-line is great. I think the Sportline is actualy the sweet spot in terms of value in the range. It comes with a fair bit of kit for the $ and is the cheapest way to get the best engine/drivetrain/suspension set-up. Add 1.8% finance into the mix and it's a pretty good deal. Pity that it's being discontinued....
