    Tiguan genuine VW roof bars

Hi All! Does anyone have the genuine VW roof bars installed on their Tiguan? I’d really appreciate some feedback as to their profile/look and how they go in terms of wind noise etc.

I’d heard that perhaps I might be better off buying after market from a value, look and noise perspective?

    Thanks so much
    Nick

    Hi Nick,

The genuine bars are well designed. The Tiguan inherently is a noisy car over 100kph. The A-pillar area causes wind noise.

We all have the problem unfortunately but the roof bars and roof box don't really add much additional noise.

Ive just come back after covering 3000km in 2 weeks. We packed a heap of stuff in the roof box without which we'd be in a bit of strife.

    Cheers mate.

It depends if you have a sunroof whether you can fit a lower profile bar.

I had a set of Prorack whispbars on my old Tig and they were a much sleeker looking bar to the stock ones.

Thanks guys! Any views on whether black or silver looks best on a white r-line?

Dug up some old shots. These are obviously 1st gen Tig on a black car but the whispbar fits across between the rails rather than sitting above.

I’d go for a silver bar on a white car personally if you have a choice.

Has anyone put a kayak onto their roof-racks? Interested to see what it looks like...

I've got Thule Wingbar 9585 that sit between the rails on mine, not an option if you have a sunroof but great if you don't.

Hi Dan - could I ask how the wind noise is(particularly on the highway) and how easy they are to take on and off as required?

    Thanks!

Minimal wind noise, quite a bit less than the ones with the higher feet and about a 5-10 minute install/remove process.

If you don't need the extra bar length from the regular style bars these are great.

I picked these ones up used off Gumtree for not very much. Popular fitment on Subaru Forester's etc so quite a few out there.
