    Tiguan first time waxing

Can anyone reccomend any wax for polishing our new black Tig? I don't want to get paint protection. I was thinking Bowdens Carnauba wax. Does anyone have any other reccomendations?

    Thanks

Waxing and polishing are separate processes.

Before you try waxing, my recommendation is to try this: SENSHA | Glass Coating Trial

It's a glass coating, not a wax, and a more modern alternative than a ceramic coating. I was a bit dubious so I ordered the trial pack (lasted 4 goes) and I have to say it's a snap to apply and it really does give a glass like finish which feels very smooth to the touch and protects for quite a while.

Our car will be parked under a garage most of it's life and i want to save 1k and just wax it properly 2-3 times a year.

Tar, bugs, line marking paint, road grime...none of that will hit your car when it’s parked. Atmospheric pollutants are just as prevalent when driving. Your choice of course but in my experience the paintwork suffers more on a car when it’s being driven than when it’s parked - undercover or not.

I got some quotes for ceramic coating the whole car, ranging from $700-$1000 depending on number of layers. Sceptical as to how long it will last..

Considering the clear wrap to just the front end now as it protects from stone chips, scratches etc.

Did you end up getting paint protection/ceramic coating?

i am also skeptical of its claimed benefits.

i am thinking just a regular wash, and wax every 3 months will do the job!

Would you pay $1000 more for a used car that had a ceramic coating treatment applied when it was new? Or would you pick the car in the best condition?
