Theres should be a topic on these Golf R or GOLFNET forum on how to plug the acutator so it stays open all the time.

Alternative would be to plumb it back to a suitable vacuum source on the tig so it operates like on the R. Let us know how you do it so we can copy...

If the Mk7 Exhaust is like what was on my old Mk6 Golf R then by default both are open, the pressure in the vacuum hose closes the valve. There was a hack where you could kink the vacuum hose and it would keep both open and make the exhaust permanently louder.

For you guys that have install the Golf R exhaust, did you replace the whole pipe from the Cat back with the Golf R setup of cut the pipe and join in front of the muffler?

Sorry I PM'd you about this but thought others might also be interested. What centre muffler do you have installed?

Sorry I'm probably the worst person at using Tapatalk. I think it's a Magnaflow but will jump under tomorrow and check it out. It won't be in there for long once the new turbo goes in. It muffles all the DSG Shifts. I'll be back at Rob Bliss to remove is (probably swap for resonator) and valve controllers for exhaust.

I’m also interested in what each of you has/is doing. If the Golf R exhaust requires too much modification to get “right” then you may be better off just going full custom.

But that’s also going to be a lot harder to replicate.

Also interested. I think the factory tiguan resonator to a mk7 r muffler should achieve a desirable outcome. I only have a muffler in the centre from when I tried a custom system and it was obnoxiously loud.

Interestingly the Golf R wagon has a different rear exhaust set-up to the hatch. This is the Milltek version:

If you could get this or the akrapovic exhaust option from a wrecked R would be awesome.

The Golf R exhaust is fitted! I kept the exhaust valve controllers on the tips and these are actually closed in default (as per pics).

As I have a res delete, the car now sounds like a Golf R with a res delete and exhaust valves closed.
There is no drone at all and farts on upshift are more pronounced than with the res delete alone.

I'm happy with the amount of noise, doesn't bother my neighbours and I get to hear the farts.
Really the Tiguan R-line should sound like this as standard.
