Hey everyone, bought my Tiguan 19.5 a few month ago and since then been reading this topic. I finally got MK7 R exhaust from wreckers and will be going soon to a local muffler mechanic in Melbourne. It's got actuator valves but I'm thinking to leave the valves open.
Reason being, it's a brand new car and I wouldn't want to have any issues with warranty. I will be retrofitting stock exhaust before service. Has anyone had any issues yet, warranty refused or anything?

I wouldn't worry about changing over an exhaust to take in for warranty. There's nothing that the exhaust will do to cause any warranty issues.

How much did the wrecker exhaust set you back?

And you dont need to take the car back to VW for service either, plenty of VW / Euro specialist workshops that can do log book services.

I was thinking to get rid of resonator, is it still ok under warranty, (I was gonna leave resonator but weld the pipe through so it looks like it has a res but just for the looks.

I found wreckers on Gumtree, initially he wanted 500 but I got him down to 300. Came with resonator and butterfly actuators (don't think I can get them to work but was thinking to DIY and come up with battery operated actuator to avoid wiring it.

Will that void warranty if I take it for service outside VW sc? Previous car service centres earned my trust and I never doubted they would rip me off.

Most Euro specialist can do log book service that wont void warranty. There was a law that was changed a few years ago to allow this as dealers charge 2-3 times a specialist would. Most dealers have random mechanics working on your car, remember a VW dealer is not owned by VW, they are just a dealer. Specialist shops have 20+ years experience in 1 brand of car

Completely agree with the point you are trying to make.. but cost isn't as huge a difference as it used to be imo.

Tiguans first 5 services at VW are either 428 629 or 689.

Specialists were quoting me around 500.. in Sydney. Not the biggest discount in the world. I do remember when they used to charge 200-300.. unless someone can recommend a good.priced one in Sydney..

    Hi guys!

New to the forum. I’ve been looking at exhaust options for the Tig and came across this thread.

In my quest to find a quad tipped exhaust for my 2019 2.0TSI Tig, I came across a Seat Cupra Ateca. Apparently this SUV gets its underpinnings from the Tiguan. With that in mind, I did some searching and it certainly looks like this SUVs exhaust should be a direct fit.

Busy typing from my phone so this is the best I can do in terms of a link:

seat cupra ateca exhaust - Google Search

    What’s your thoughts?
