    Looks great!

Did you need to code it or just plug & pray?

Thanks! I’m very happy with the result. And yes it was plug and play. I made sure I got a wheel with compatible buttons as I needed ACC function buttons not standard cruise control.

Was just looking around the (now pretty much dead) Subaru forum and found you playing with a Gen 6 Liberty a few years back: club.liberty.asn.au

Yes that was me. Quickly found the limitations with the gen6 Liberty. Went from the stage 2 125TSI Tig to the Gen6 Liberty, Scirocco and now 162TSI Tig.

Yes it was certainly a very different car for you, both in terms of brand and power-wise. My dad has a 2019 Gen 6 Subaru Outback and I clean it for him every month or so. It is unbelieveably slow (2.5i) and I despise the CVT gearbox.

He used to have a 2006 Gen 4 Outback but that one had the 3.0 flat 6 so it had some reasonable power (about 180kw) but still had a terrible auto gearbox which was always in the wrong gear, extremely lazy to kick down and just did everything in its power to ruin what was quite a good engine.

I was trying to stick to a budget and my criteria was new, AWD and under $40k.

Stock 2.5i Liberty does 0-100 in 10.0sec and after tune, headers and exhaust I had it running 7.9sec. Which is not bad to drop 2.0sec with an NA car.

How bad are CVT gearboxes! When I waiting for the new (at the time) Tiguan to launch I checked out the rest of the market - Cx5, Tucson, X1 and Forrester XT. I looked at the specs of the XT and was a bit optimistic, and went in knowing that it had a CVT gearbox but I was trying to keep an open mind. I took it for a drive; there's no doubt that it had a decent amount of power, but the CVT was absolutely horrible.
