I thought the privacy glass was uv filtering already? Infact aren’t all windows with any kind of ‘film’
Happy to be corrected, but I thought that was the case.
I had negotiated clear UV film through the dealer (included in the price) for the Wolfsburg rear windows which already had privacy tints on them. The dealer then called to say their tint guy can’t add UV film because it has a slight tint already and will make the rear windows exceed legal tint limit.
Dealer pulling a porky? Their tint guy doesn’t stock clear UV film?
Should I go to Tint A Car or someone like them? Can they do clear UV film?
Thanks in advance

As far as Im aware there isnt anything to stop you tinting rear doors and rear glass as dark as you like as if you have outside mirrors you dont actually meed an inside one.
I tinted my Landcruisers windows dead black so that when travelling prying eyes couldnt see what goodies were inside.
Never had a problem in any State when on tour
Imagine a transporter van with no other windows than drivers door and passengers side Still allowed on the road.

Mamba Ebike to replace Tiguan
There's a couple of issues here...the first one is that the Wolfsburg's rear factory glass tint is already very dark (~20% VLT?) - darker than the standard Tiguan factory tint of ~35% VLT. The second is that the "clearest" film will still reduce VLT by around 10 to 15% on top of the factory tint. So adding any sort of tint on the rear windows of a Wolfsburg will likely be "illegal" because it will certainly push visibility below the specified 20% limits.
Some people don't worry, but if you are concerned about about the small possibility of being defected and insurance problems then just get the fronts done.

Yes, Goose is correct. Last pic was before as a reference. Film was Tint A Car Spectra as described above. Have a look at the following link for specs............ Spectre Car Tint - Ceramic Technology - Tint a Car. It was done in WA. Expect this is available at all TaC outlets nationally. It is a ceramic film and was the most expensive in the rack. It is not identical but it is legal, wont cause network connectivity issues, and from most angles you would not notice the difference if you wernt looking for it. Where it is most noticeable is from straight side on when looking through to the other side. I am happy with it. Hope that helps you decide.
