if its anything like the "virtual pedal" in the Skoda, which it likely is given VW and Skoda share the same parts bin........u need to "break" the sensor by kicking straight.

if u see the pics below, it will give u an idea of how the sensor is positioned, normally, inside the rear bumper/diffusor.

Anyone having issues with their tail gate not opening all the time?

When I first got my car it worked 90% of the time when you kick OR swipe your foot across, I did find on scorching hot days it didn't work so well.

Now, it seems to be working like 30% of the time. Pretty shlt considering the car is only 6 months old, can't imagine how it would be after a few years - standard VW quality I guess? lol

Might try give the sensor a clean?

    Anyone else having issues?

Mine doesn’t always lift up- usually when I use the door button. It clicks open, but doesn’t actually lift up.

My kick to open works most of the time though.

Foot kick/swipe is completely cooked now, doesn't work at all lol.

Will plug up my OBDeleven and see what's going on tonight.

Taking it to the dealer might result in a whole day wasted

Mine’s good 99% of the time. Few instances I’ve had issues was when the car was filthy (assuming sensor was covered with dirt), and another time the battery had been drained after I fiddled around with settings through OBD11.

    I’m a straight-leg kicker.

So got back from the dealer, they scanned for errors and none.. and some how it works perfectly now.

Could be co-incidence it's colder now and raining a bit in Sydney.

Always the case - it works perfectly the one time you don’t want it to

Interesting, my car is 6mths old now and I have noticed once or twice now that if I just lightly press the rear tailgate button, it opens but only just (like a non-auto tailgate). If I then give it a good 2nd press, the tailgate fully opens...
